Marathon Weekend 2017!

Right now on my AccuWeather app if they did move it up to between 4-5 they could be okay. I see rain at three and then after 6.

If the half is cancelled (I probably shouldn't even say those words)... do you think they would let those running the half, run the half during the marathon if they are here???

I know that would add extra people during the first several miles of the marathon, but maybe they start after or before???

Just posing a question, not sure they would actually be able to do this.

That sounds like a logistical mess. You're probably looking at an extra 10,000 on the course for the first 13.1.

That's what I figured, it would be very difficult to accomplish with the amount of runners in these races.

I am doing the Half tomorrow as the first half of my coast to coast challenge, with the second half being next weekend for the light side in DL. If they modify this one, am I still eligible for the coast to coast?

I'm going to *guess* that yes, you would be. Can't remember what they did for 2015 Wine & Dine...

Looking at the current forecast if they started the race an hour early they should be fine as current concerns seem to be closer to the end of the race 8/9 am.. 3-7 is looking good & clear- but that's prob a logistical nightmare... but every time I check it looks better..

I'd be game for that - I'm sure you're right that there's basically no way they could make it happen though.


If you're runDisney, your first priority should be to keep everyone safe...but we also know that they don't want 26,000 angry runners. Cancellation will be an absolutely last resort, I think. But they also need to clear MK for park opening.

My guess is that we'll be running a shortened course tomorrow unless my anti-rain dance works.

I know I'm a little late to the party on the topic, but I also wanted to say how nice it was to meet so many folks in person this afternoon. It was great putting faces to names to screen names and just having relaxed conversations. Thanks again to @Keels and @FFigawi for organizing and hosting!

They still gave the Coast to Coast medals. My sister did the Disneyland Half that year, and then Wine and Dine and she got her medal. Quite honestly, I know the rules for C2C say a half marathon on each coast to be eligible, but I don't think people should feel like they didn't earn their medal if their one leg was a shortened course. Unlike the Wine and Dine medal which says "half marathon" when it really wasn't a half marathon, people like my sister still did a race on each coast, so they did go coast to coast. Same for anyone tomorrow if the race ends up being shortened but they still run something and then do a Disneyland event.

On that note, still sending the storm-free vibes for everyone! Stay dry and try to have fun!

I know Disney does not take chances when it comes to lightning or safety. I guess the best thing to do is to keep watching RunDisney twitter and FB for announcements but I doubt any will come prior to 5:30 a.m. tomorrow. I wasn't "lucky" enough to experience the Splash and Dash abbreviated Wine and Dine Half in 2015 so I am not familiar with how it was announced.

I was at Wine and Dine that year and the communication was awful. While we were inside during the evacuation, any announcements being made (if there were any) were impossible to hear. They posted updates on Twitter, but cell reception was horrible and I could not get a reliable internet connection. Once they let us head back outside, the messages being passed among runners were all different. I don't think it was until we heard the announcement in the corrals that we knew for sure what was happening and what the course distance was. I really hope tomorrow goes more smoothly.

Best of luck to everyone running tomorrow, I so hope the weather holds out for you. DS4 has his 200m dash tomorrow so I'm hoping that, if there are storms, they happen after the half but before the kids races!

Had a great time running the 10k today, really enjoyed the race, and now I'm beyond excited for the Princess half next month.

I'm eating at AKL. Once I finish up I'm heading to the lobby to make sure that sign is real (need to see it with my own eyes!).

To me this means we're getting a shortened course.
