My goals were:

1) get to the race - check. Hopefully the British Airways crew strike won't impact our flights.
2) ride rides - check. @Keels has our FP reserved
3) beer - check. Beer stop at mile 24.5

Three weeks to go! In recognition of the holiday season, this week's Sundays are for Disney question is: What is on your marathon weekend wishlist? It can be running related, Disney-related or something else, but what are you hoping for during the race weekend?

+ Have fun with all my #TeamKeels squad
+ FOOD. Yachtsman, Cali Grill, Be Our Guest, Il Mulino, brunch. All of it.
+ BOOZES.
+ Staying on-site for more than a day - I've never done this before as I've never really had a reason to.
+ Pool Time!
+ Finishing Dopey No. 2 - after a disappointing year of injury after Dopey No. 1 this year, I'm hoping that getting all those fabulous challenge medals will make up for having to miss out on the NYC Half and Chicago Marathon. My Marathon Week this time around is going to be about more than just the Challenge itself - it's about fun and fellowship, and enjoying precious time with the people who have helped me get to the point I'm at now.

As an aside, I gave my friend A her MagicBand on Tuesday - she's been wearing it since then and sends me silly text messages about it like this one:

Watching her experience Disney for the first time is going to be so fun.

Goals . . .

1. Get all my kids to Disney by the end of the week. The older boys are arriving later in the week and separately from each other, based on their individual school/rehearsal/activity schedules.

2. 5K. Enjoy our little one's enthusiasm. Not fall while chasing him when he sprints.

3. 10K. Sad our middle son can't be there in time to run this. Since I'm running solo, I might attempt a PR.

4. Half. Enjoy this individual time with my almost-adult-child and try not to get too sentimental about his first Disney trip as a 1-year-old. Also, meet Carl from Up. This is his standing goal for Disney races, remains unattained, and Carl is the only character for whom we would stop. Guessing that will never happen, but if it did he would go nuts.

5. Marathon. Finish the marathon as comfortably and happily as possible. It's the perfect opportunity for running zen. :)

6. Protect my wonderful and supportive husband from total and complete Disney and spectator burnout.

Ha, I should definitely add your number 6 to my list! Any tips?!

I have an idea. What if we tied a small colored ribbon to one of the holes in our bib to distinguish our Disboards members? In case we miss the meet up and/or the pre-race meet up? I belonged to a group where we all added a laminated green mickey head with our disname to our backpack to spot fellow members.

Or something else to be able to find each other? Maybe a Mickey head sticker on our bib?

I love the idea!

My goals:
This trip is a celebration of some major life changes I made to become a healthier me. I've lost 136 pounds and this 5K is a big deal for me. This is my first RunDisney event! Looking forward to doing more. So my first goal I've met already...register for this run. Goal two, run more of it than walk. Goal three, have a good time doing it

You'll LOVE the 5K! The Disneyland 5K was my first-ever RunDisney race and it was such a blast.

Just be warned - the RunDisney addiction is REAL.

Congrats on becoming a healthier you - what an amazing transformation!

Goals:

1. Finish the 5K, 10K and the 1/2 before my knee gives out

2. Run(slowly to soak it in) up Main Street USA in the 1/2

3. Meet my wife as she runs up Main Street USA during the full at the same place that I met her 2 years ago when she ran the 1/2 and I didn't

4. See my wife at some to be determined spot in the Boardwalk area towards the end of the full.

5. Getting pic taken with my wife, bro in law and sis in law with all of their Dopey medals and me with my 3.

6. Still enjoy our time together with some fun beteeen the runs.

7. Meeting someone from the DIS in one of the race corrals

Goals:
1) Have a great time on vacation with my family and meet some of you fine folks
2) Not fall apart in WWoS like I have my last 2 attempts, limping in the last 6 miles
3) Stretch goal is to come in under 5 hours

My marathon weekend wishlist:

1) Good, but slightly cool weather (for both safe travels and good race temps!)
2) Finish my first Goofy Challenge
3) Get at least two character photos (one from each race)
4) Since learning this will be my first totally solo runDisney trip (due to my husband having to be away for work travel), my last goal is to get out to as many running group meet ups as possible so I don't feel mopey about not having my husband or friends with me on this trip.

After a chat with @FFigawi, I think we're in agreement on "hosting" a meet-up at Beach Club!

Friday, 2 p.m., at Hurricane Hannah's - it's the pool bar accessible from the Boardwalk loop. We'll be in the bar area, but can also spread out into the table area.

I'll post updates closer to the date if there is inclement weather.

If you're planning to drop by, please let me know so I can give the bar a heads-up!

I'm still working out my Friday incoming flight plans, but I'm going to try to come by. Will you be wearing Mickey ears or a bright colored shirt so we can easily find you?

Goals:

1. Have a fun 5K with my wife, daughter and son.

2. Nice, cool weather that will help me in trying to get another PR on the Disney Half course.

@DopeyBadger - Many thanks for the e-gel recommendation. It took me a few long runs to get used to them, but now that I have my needs figured out these gels have turned out to be perfect for my needs. I completed a slow 24 miler today (slow on purpose, as I was trying to mimic my stop/start strategy in WDW). I never felt the energy highs or lows that I have become accustomed to over the years on runs longer than 20 miles. With 3 runs longer than 20 miles in the last 6 weeks, all using e-gels, and all with great energy, I think that I have found my new formula for success.

:thumbsup2

My goals are still the same, ride Everest, cross the half finish w/ my wife, and cross the full finish line with a beer and pretzel. The only addition is to survive New Years in Epcot.

Did my last 20 miler today. It was brutal on my legs. I ran a bike trail that is flat, but with all the rain we had the past 2 days, the trail was soft. It was like running on sand in many spots. I made it and am so ready to taper!!!
