Marathon Weekend 2017!

I've been lurking for a while as I prepare for my first runDisney event (Goofy); thanks for all of the great tips and pointers. Thought I'd join in the fun now that everything is 'official'. I knew I didn't have a great chance to get a PoT by the deadline so I used the 5:30 default as my expected time. That put me in Corral K, five or six corrals behind my expected time. I've run in several 10,000+ runner events, so navigating the crowds in front of me shouldn't be too much of an issue (though the photos of the bottleneck at the Castle have me worried). For those who have done this before, I was wondering if there is a good estimate of the approximate start time for each corral. In other words, from Corral K, about how long will it take me to get to the actual start? Based on my count, 12987 of 27508 runners go out ahead of K in the half; it's 13017 of 23051 in the full.

RACE - Half
NAME - Steve
DIS'er name - Geographilia
Costume/Clothing - Nothing special
Corral - K
Early Bird or Late Arriver - Probably Early
Front, Middle, or Back of corral - Front
Expected Pace - 10:00

RACE - Full
NAME - Steve
DIS'er name - Geographilia
Costume/Clothing - Nothing special
Corral - K
Early Bird or Late Arriver - Early
Front, Middle, or Back of corral - Front
Expected Pace - 9:00-9:30 (shooting for sub-4)

Looking forward to my last long run tomorrow. With temps rising overnight to about 60F by sunrise, it might be good prep for Florida. It is certainly better than Sunday's forecast of 25F at sunrise with single digit wind chills. This native Nutmegger has gotten soft after 20+ years in the south!

Can anybody repost the corrals for the 5 & 10? My DH is running those and I can't, for the life of me, find the post with all races listed. I have his bib #, he wants me to run with him. Want to know where I'll be starting. Thanks!

Have not been able to get on DIS almost all day. Just got home (15 hour day...) and opened the thread and saw that I was back about 250 messages! Only one thought - the waivers must have been published!!! Yea!

I am in Corral D for Dopey; that is appropriate. So excited!!!!!

Corrals for those races haven't been posted.

@rteetz All ready said they weren't posted but to add on to that. 5k and 10k corrals aren't usually posted (I can think of one time in the entire time I've been doing Disney that they posted it) that's usually something you find out a bib pickup. But you might be able to take a guess depending on what his number is.

I'm seeing no mention of the Clif Bar pace team (nor do they have a booth at the expo?) Anyone seeing anything different? Disney is still not listed on the clif bar pace team website. My mom was really hoping to use them.

Don't know about the official Clif team, but there's a chance I might be pacing @mbwhitti for the half, and I eat & use Clif products. That sort of counts, right?

#Dopey2018.... just saying..... Might be a few others to join in on the chant... @FFigawi and @CheapRunnerMike

But in all seriousness. :sad1: Wish you were joining us. We've got to figure out a Chicago/Milwaukee race we can both fit in our schedules so we can go crush it together!

DO IT @roxymama! Dopey 18! Dopey 18!

I'm slacking on getting this to you Billy...still trying to solidify the most important detail, my costumes! I have about 6 in play, just need to settle on which ones to use.

We have a beer stop at mile 24.5 and will likely refill at La Cava on our way by, right @Keels?

Wife and I will be stopping for Mexico margaritas too and if I have anything to do with it there will be a beer stop as well. Something tells me I might need to drag @FFigawi and @Keels off their bars stools at La Cava and remind them them that they still need to finish the marathon"..either that or just pull up a stool beside them ;)

Hi all,
Sorry to ask a newbie question but where do I find info about the online goody bag? Have I missed it or is that still to come? I am a bit of a lurker but really appreciate all of the info in this thread.

Race - 5K
Name - I stay anonymous on here.
DIS'er name - ravenclawtrekkie
Costume/Clothing - Lilo dress from Hot Topic, possibly accompanied by a stuffed Stitch if I can figure out a good way to carry him on the course.
Corral - Probably the last one, based on past assignments for Wine & Dine and Dark Side.
Early Bird or Late Arriver - I'm chronically early for everything.
Front, Middle, or Back of corral - Back, I get claustrophobic if I cram myself into the front of the corral.
Expected Pace - Slow, I'm mostly a walker until I lose another 50 pounds so I don't destroy my knees any further than they already are.

I might try warming up on the course at the start line before it begins. I will be starting in the front and right at the start. What about that area that looks like a parking lot? Or is there a bunch of people/stuff in that area?

Agree with @Keels that your best bet is to get to the corrals first thing (walk to corrals should start around 4-4:15am) and warm-up inside corral A without crossing the start line. There is some room in there but it would end up being several circles. And the earlier you get there the less people there will be. If I were to take a guess based on past years (I've been in C) I'd say it's about 20-40m long at best. But @Pleglech has started in marathon corral A before so he might be able to give you the most accurate description of space and possibility of warming-up beyond the start line.

No rush as we've got lots of time. I will probably send out a first draft in a few days, and then the final copy sometime during post-Christmas week.

If I remember from the past it will be posted on rundisney. Usually only a week or two prior to race week. So maybe next week?

Any good resources out there for spectators or any advice on here? My wife and our 2-year-old are going down and staying at Pop Century. I've already told her I don't expect her to get up and watch me early on, but it would be nice to see them later along the course and then meet up at the finish.

I was thinking either Wild World of Sports since it's close to Pop or maybe they could get over to Boardwalk for breakfast and watch me go by there? My wife is not a seasoned Disney traveler, can get stressed when things don't go smoothly and will have a 2-year-old with her, so I want to make this as easy as possible on her.

Links? Advice? Thanks in advance!
