Marathon Weekend 2017!

That sucks! I had the same POT this year as last and I went from I to O. Just means I won't have as many character stops as last year.

I'm in almost the same boat. M last year, had a faster POT this year and got put in O. I was really looking forward to stopping for characters as this is my only runDisney race for quite awhile. Guess that's not in the cards now.

Sincere apologies. I have gone through everyone's posts several times for the past dozen pages or so.

I have DW and my waivers printed with the bib numbers. But how are you all figuring out your coral assignments?

Sorry about this.

Thank you very much!

Am I adding these numbers right? There are 10,536 runners for the half in the last four corrals? (M to P). Nuts!

(Doing my math due diligence over here)

Jeff Galloway also said all pacers will be using run/walk/run. I don't know if your mom is planning on doing that or straight running.

Continuous running, so the pacers might not work for her. That's alright. She's been trained to handle it no matter what.

Does anyone know how to track the balloon ladies on the runner tracking?

Hmm... That's a good question. I wonder if they were official bibs? If so, at the start of the race find them in corral P. Then use your phone to add them to your runner tracking. Although, I'd say my predictions will be reasonably accurate. Not perfect, but close.

Maybe you can get me to some boss 10k PR time which would probably be an easy pace for you. Ok, sorry everyone...going back to my lurking.

Done and done! You name the place and time and I'm there (with wife approval).

Chicago/Milwaukee race? I might be in for that too!

Sweet! Maybe @pixarmom, @*DisneyDreamer, and @opusone would join us for a WI/Ill race of some sort.

I believe there are going to be Jeff Galloway pace teams!

Thanks! I'll be interested to talk to them with my mom at the expo.

Costume/Clothing - undecided. I have what I wear for my racing team, but usually only wear that in local/regional races. I would love a costume or something more fun for this race. Suggestions (I don't do skirts)?

Hmm... Do you have a favorite Disney/Pixar movie? Or your kids have a favorite? We could probably come up with something based on that.

Apparently runDisney hates me, they fixed me having 3 bibs and have put me in corral N. Seriously upset now and questioning if I ever want to run Disney again.

Bummer. Sounds like you've got a plan with runner relations and I'm wishing you the best of luck. I would venture to guess you've got about a 40 minute buffer based on your estimated fitness and after the other 3 races. Don't let it stress you out. If you're in N then so be it and I know you'll still do great! No doubt about it!

I'm not sure if they're drawn to scale, but if you look at the corral staging diagram, those last 4 corrals are massive by comparison.

Wow. You are right! Ugh runDisney. This is the second race in a row where my proof didn't match my corral. I feel like I am in a constant struggle with their corral system :)

But yeah ... they changed up the corralling for the Half/Full for sure, and those last four corrals are GINORMOUS.

Here are how corrals were done this year for the Half/Full:

Try talking to runners relations at the expo. If you have a solid PoT showing that you shouldn't be in N they may move you up. I've heard of it happening before when the system got wonky before they went to private submissions for PoT. No guarantees though but probably worth a shot.

The key is what you put as your Estimated Time of Finish - I like to think of it this way:

They basically drop you in a "bucket" based on your Estimated Time of Finish and then slot you out based on PoT comparable to those people in the same estimated time of finish. It makes it easier to process so many registrants versus having one HUGE stack of registrants - just break it down piecemeal - they're putting the work on the runner to determine "where" they should start (estimated time of finish) and then going from there.

I learned at Tink Weekend that the drop-down for Estimated Time of Finish is almost, if not AS, important as your PoT. Your PoT just validates what you think your estimated time will be. Active/RunDisney won't do the math for you. For Tink, I had a PoT that CLEARLY put me in Corral B - but when I did my registration after transferring, I didn't change the dropdown from the static 3:15 half to reflect what my PoT was equivalent to (sub-2:30 half). I just asked at Runner Relations what I did wrong, since I do so many races a year, so I could know better for next time. She immediately pointed out that I was estimating to finish in 3:15, regardless of what my PoT said - so, it was operator error on my part. But then she stickered my bib for the corral that matched my PoT (after looking at a print-out to see what the corresponding time/pace would be).

For what it's worth, my bib number was 12 numbers from the first number to start my original corral at Tink - so that's how I've developed this theory, along with what I've learned by talking to and volunteering with Runner Relations.

They're official registered runners doing Goofy - they just "volunteer" as balloon ladies/unofficial pacers. For most races, you see the Balloon Ladies/Gents check in on some of the groups on Facebook about a week before the race so people can track them.

Before the races, they'll be hanging out by the entrance to Corral P. They're SUPER sweet - and almost as popular as the pre-race character for pictures!

Thanks for pointing this out. This changes the warm-up for the HM and M because the road that used to be open is now not there anymore with the change in corral location:

@Wendy98 I believe I told you a week or so ago (I think it was you) about warming up about before the marathon. But as you can see the area I had previously mentioned available to you (where M through P is above) is no longer open road. And even that small space next to corral A is likely the equipment trucks and stage and stuff and isn't likely actually available road space. Looks like some warming up inside the corral instead.

@MommaoffherRocker see @Keels answer. Looks like you can find them on race day or potentially a few days early.

Looks like a Balloon Gent for the Half!

Once he posts his bib number in a FB group I'm in, I'll post it here so people can have that as a tracking benchmark for those curious.

EDIT: He is doing a :15/:30 Galloway interval for his 16:00/mile for those curious!

Thanks from those of us that are Facebook impaired!

Thanks! And you might not want to look at my run on Strava tonight lol I needed to blow off some steam and not watch my pace:eek: I'll be better tomorrow  I promise

:rotfl2:

Don't worry about it! Looks like we need to harness your "mad" running inner self for those dominant paces. Although, yea please back off on the pacing the next few runs because you definitely moved into a new zone with those paces. But someone's improving!!! ::yes::

Thanks from those of us that are Facebook impaired!

You're welcome! They're all volunteers from a local run club that I participate with when I'm in Orlando for an extended period of time. They're all really great people - and they try to do their best to support runners the best they can. I feel so bad, they get a bad wrap and people that are about to get swept often take it out on them.

But they register and pay for these races just like the rest of us. They DO have Tyvek "bibs" that they wear on their backs that say something along the lines of "You Are Behind a 16:00/Mile Pace". They have no control over who gets swept.

Some "speed walk" the whole thing, while others run/walk - they usually decide between themselves what the strategy will be.

FWIW - for Tracking Purposes, the Balloon Gent for the Half is Mel Abando.

We've got a good start to our DIS list!

5k - 15 runners
10k - 15 runners
HM - 30 runners
M - 30 runners

But we had many more last year so keep them coming everyone! I can think of a few people I haven't heard from yet.
