Newp. I'm cool with the amount of character I currently possess. It's warmer this way.

And that's why I'm running on the treadmill.@rteetz good lord.![]()
First run of my dopey simulation today on the treadmill. Went better than I thought but I'm sure not going to like these longer runs on the treadmill.
I'm hoping I can do my 20 outside but I've accepted that my 10 will be inside. At least I can watch "Tangled" while I run.I just ran 20 miles on the treadmill yesterday, as I'm sharing temps with rteetz and dopeybadger. Beyond the cold, the ice and snow on the ground are pretty rough. And if any part of my foot freezes now, it will stay that way through marathon weekend. Lesson learned from 2014 PHM. So it's running shoes on the treadmill and ugg products until I land at MCO.
I'd kill for 30s because I'll still run outside in that.Holy Moly! Our temperatures are dropping into the upper 30's tomorrow and I'm planning a treadmill run.....granted it is a short one.
So as I said previously, I'll setup a Dis'ers sheet with everyone's information on it for each race once the corrals come out (today... maybe... maybe....). As well as I plan to have a meeting place pre and post many of the races. However, there were a few (@FFigawi, @camaker , and @Keels ) who had mentioned a desire to have a Dis meet up at a time not during the race mornings. Do you all have a place, time, and date in mind that would work best for such a meet-up? I can include that in the packet I'm making and the earlier we plan for it the easier I can make it work into my Disney schedule. I'm getting so excited!!!![]()

I'd be wearing shorts in the 30s.Being from Florida if it was in the upper 30's I would be in the most interior room of the house tucked under plenty of blankets drinking some hot cocoa, and by the way national hot cocoa day was Tuesday!!I mean I moved to Orlando from South Florida and its not even January yet and the difference in how cold it gets up here compared to Miami has been very noticeable, especially at night.I've always said I enjoy cold weather but in reality I enjoy cool weather,if we were to get something similar to the 2010 Disney on ice marathon weekend before I started running these races I would freak out
Okay I think there is a slight miscommunication here about my, in retrospect, ridiculous times. I was going for a personal best on the Marathon. Was it stupid to attempt on the last leg of Dopey? In hindsight probably yes. I went into the first three legs knowing I was aiming for a personal best at the marathon distance since I was in personal best form so thus the effort to try and conserve. I was originally aiming to try and break 6 hours (my current standing Marathon PR is a 6:12, breaking that was what I was conserving for, not the 8 hour marathon it became), no stops, no characters, no nothing. I had PRed at Disney races prior I couldn't see why I wouldn't be able to pull it off. I had no way of knowing during legs 2 and 3 that I was going to have a heat meltdown going into World Wide Center of Sports (though again in hindsight there were warning signs early in the marathon I just ignored them). Which is what happened. I was averaging as @DopeyBadger pointed out a 13:45 mile up until leaving Animal Kingdom. After which everything just went downhill. I started cramping up just about Mile 16 but still managed a shuffle run through WWOS. Before everything got so bad leaving WWOS around mile 19 or 20 that I had to walk the rest of the way in. Going by my photos timestamps it took me three hours to get from the point of the initial meltdown to the finish. That's how severe it was. In retrospect, the only reason I finished without being swept was because I banked time (unintentionally mind you) during the first half of the race aiming for a PR.
By the time I got to WWOS and switched gears most of the lines were so short that I think I spent maybe 2, 3 minutes top in line for a character (okay probably a stupid decision in retrospect to stop anywhere but that didn't occur to me at that point) so making somewhere about 8 stops that only accounts for 20ish minutes of the 3 hour 10 miles. My mid-race meltdown was just that severe.
No personal best attempt this year (lesson learned). So my times should be more reasonable since I will be doing more running than walking. Just got to make sure to keep a good balance in check.
Just to kind of emphasize my point. Here's me in Magic Kingdom while still feeling good even if my face is sweat covered:

Here I am in Animal Kingdom not long before the start of the melt down somehow looking half way decent:

And here I am in Hollywood Studios post meltdown stopped for the Incredibles:

In retrospect, my race is probably an example of what not to do. Like, if you drink around 10 oz of Powerade Zero before you hit mile 4 (as I said before there were warning signs, I just ignored them until too late) then a PR is probably not in the cards.
After a chat with @FFigawi, I think we're in agreement on "hosting" a meet-up at Beach Club!
Friday, 2 p.m., at Hurricane Hannah's - it's the pool bar accessible from the Boardwalk loop. We'll be in the bar area, but can also spread out into the table area.
I'll post updates closer to the date if there is inclement weather.
If you're planning to drop by, please let me know so I can give the bar a heads-up!
We're characters alright...bloody cold here too, with windchill sitting in the -20's Celsius (-10ºF or so). Also known as "balmy" to you guys from Wisconsin and Minnesota. It builds character, just ask @CheapRunnerMike

that small heartbreaking moment when your doctor calls with bad lab results and letting you know you have to go to the hospital for a small day surgery just days before your half marathon.... and that you had pneumonia for the 10k in 2016.... wonder what i'll have keeping me from running at my full potential in 2018... this is clearly not my race weekend...

I am liking this idea...going to see if I can swing that one. Any issues getting into the bar area if you're not staying at BC? I know it is one of the pools that we can't pool hop at with DVC

Excellent, thanks for clarifyingHurricane Hannahs' bar area is outside of the restricted access to SAB. It's just off the path/walkway that goes around crescent lake and adjacent to the mile 5 marker for the 10K and the "24.5 mile marker" for the full.
