Marathon Weekend 2017!

Since this is going to be our 1st 1/2 Marathon, we decided to err on the side of caution and skip the costumes. However, we did order all three of us the same 'Just keep running' Dory shirt to wear- so at least we are Disney Themed!!

I have the "Just Keep Running" shirt too! Actually I bought two of them, but absolutely love them! I don't wear them for runs, but definitely around the parks!

My "milestone 50" will be the 2018 Marathon weekend. I am commemorating by doing Dopey! Along with everyone else, lol! Hopefully I can get in! :)

My B-day is actually in February 2018 for my 50th.. I am planning on completing my 3rd Dopey in 2018 (hoping the 2017 goes fine)

42 is the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything. ;)
What do you get when you multiply 6 by 9..

Morning guys and gals! The countdown is at 20 weeks!

I'm running low on running questions at the moment (DM me if you have ideas!), so the next few Sundays are for Disney questions will be general WDW questions to build anticipation for the big weekend! Here goes...

What are your five favorite attractions (rides, shows, parades, etc.) at WDW?

Mine are:
5. Wishes/Celebrate the Magic. Just the best nighttime show at the parks, as far as I'm concerned. Never gets old.
4. Haunted Mansion. Just a classic Disney ride.
3. Philharmagic. Or, as my daughters called it when they were little, "Fill up on magic." I love the music and it was the first ride that made my girls believe in the magic of Disney.
2. Tower of Terror. Great thrill ride and the theming is perfectly done.
1. Splash Mountain. Simply the greatest ride there is.

Have a good week, everyone!

Hmmm, plenty of honorable mentions (TOT, Star Tours, Everest, etc.), but tough call on the top 5 - here are mine:
5. Mission Space (Orange, of course) - totally unique and apparently not far off from the real thing
4. Sum of All Thrills - design then ride your own roller coaster/jet fighter - wicked cool! Too bad Universal bought the technology for HP's forbidden journey - WDW needs more of these rides.
3. Soarin' - watching Imax from a porch swing? I need this at home! Can't wait to experience the redesigned flight...
2. Space Mountain.
1. Illuminations from the Rose & Crown patio over Jaffa Tarts/Irish Coffee, our traditional close to each and every WDW vacation.

What are your five favorite attractions (rides, shows, parades, etc.) at WDW?
5. Celebrate the Magic, because it makes me feel allll the feels.
4. Spaceship Earth. Makes me think of my BFFs. :)
3. Haunted Mansion. Just a perfect, classic attraction.
2. Fantasmic! The first time I saw it was the first night of my and Mr. Ariel484's honeymoon - my first visit to WDW since 1995 - and that was the moment when I was just like, "wow, this place is amazing."
1. Tower of Terror. Perfect attraction and an example of what sets Disney apart.

Honorable mention: Spectromagic! (RIP )

@lhermiston I have a couple of ideas that I'll PM to you, first I need to go back and make sure they aren't repeats. :)

Went back and found the questions we have had so far, for anyone else trying to think of new ones. :)

25 - favorite part of the event/what are you looking forward to the most?
24 - what do you plan to eat/drink right after?
23 - how many rD events have you done?
22 - how competitive do you plan to be?
21 - Costumes, yes/no?
20 - top 5 WDW attractions

1. Splash Mountain. The first time my family went to WDW (in the early 90's) it was the "new" ride (they were all new to us!) and it had a sufficient line to support this idea. We waited early to ride it, loved it and pretty much figured that was our one chance we would get since we wanted to see everything we could. Then it began to rain in the afternoon and our window of opportunity opened. My sister, brother, and I got the OK from our parents to head back over during the afternoon parade and encountered no line. We ended up going on it six or seven times in a row with no wait and since it was off and on pouring rain we weren't going to avoid getting soaked anyway. It was glorious.
2. Fantasmic!-Just saw it for the first time last year and was surprised how well it really capped a great day.
3. Test Track-Going on this with my four year old nephew for his first "big kid ride" probably enhanced the experience.
4. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster-I love roller coasters. I wish they had more of them. If I was in charge of WDW I would be exploring ways to add an entirely new park themed primarily around Star Wars with larger thrill rides.
5. The Food. All of it. I don't discriminate.

In no particular Order:
Wishes
Soarin
Test Track
Expedition Everest
Seven Dwarves Mine Train

Favorites is a tough one, but I'd say

1. Tower of Terror
2. Haunted Mansion
3. Soarin'
4. Everest
5. Festival of the Lion King

So we are running the 1/2 on Saturday and just booked the Keys to the Kingdom tour for Sunday at 8am. Not sure if we are going to keep it or not yet, but either way, I am wondering about the logistics that morning with the full marathon going on. Will it be difficult to get to the MK for 8am that day? We are staying at POR, so we were planning on just taking the earliest bus (usually around 7am right?) that day.

Um, others may have better info (and please forgive me if I come across somewhat harsh), but that might just be the absolute worst morning you could pick for an 8am tour at MK. 25,000 runners will be leaving Epcot for MK between 5:30 am and 7:00 am, and many many many of them will have family and friends traveling to MK that morning to cheer them on. The bus (and monorail) schedule will be changed to transport runners and Chear Squad members back and forth between POR (which is where we're staying too BTW), Epcot, and MK - and everything will be swamped (the Monorail lines apparently are epic). You probably at a minimum should call POR and/or the tour line to find out their recommendations.

That's interesting that they booked a tour for you on that day. :scratchin

I agree with @jhorstma that things could get tricky. Magic Kingdom comes up in he 6th mile of the race, and with the marathon starting at 5:30, I would think the runners in the latter corrals will be starting at 6:30...I think there's a very good chance that the marathon will still be in the Magic Kingdom at 8AM. World Drive will be used by runners as well, though I remember from staying at POR that there was some cool sneaky bus route that the CMs took to get us to MK. I'd definitely call and ask about that!
