Marathon Weekend 2017!

Costumes during the race, yeah or nah? If yeah, what are you doing/have you done? Or, what ideas do you have for marathon weekend?
Both - I've done plenty of "costumes" (nothing fancy) over the years, but probably won't for marathon weekend. I'm feeling kind of costumed-out at the moment and Dark Side will take priority for cobbling something together. I'm sure I'll manage to use some themed color combinations, though. Past races I've done as: Cinderella, Snow, Fireside Girl, Ariel, Merida, R2D2, Sith, Palpatine/Vader mashup, Donald, Minnie.

This week's Sundays are for Disney Question:

I am "celebrating" a milestone birthday on the actual marathon day, so I'm trying to come up with something creative for that. I welcome suggestions (it's the milestone that starts with a 5...)

we bought customized t-shirts saying "I run for..." each person's favorite WDW treat - Dole Whip, Tonga Toast, Mickey Bars and caramel apples, respectively.
Love this!

I rad as Tinkerbell and I ran with my brother (Peter Pan) and my sister (Wendy)
Jealous--my family will never do group costumes for anything! My profile pic is our Disney bounding bows that I ordered off ETSY and all I wanted them to do was channel their favorite ride. Littlest DD was having none of it--so we have Space Mountain, Splash Mountain and Marie. DH wore a Star Tours T. sigh.

:scratchin Golden anniversary, no? Maybe you could play that up?

And make yourself an awesome celebratory ADR for later! :)

I also turn 50 next year, but I had not considered something themed to that. Hmmm...

We wore Dopey, Guardians of the Galaxy (Rocket and Star-Lord), and Tower of Terror bellhops for the 5k, 10k, and half, respectively. We were going to wear the Dopey for the full, but our 5k costumes got nixed by Disney's new costume rules (after we arrived!), so Dopey was relegated to the 5k. We were actually very happy about that after the fact; it was so humid for the full! Our inflatable Baymax (white one and red one) got their play at the Bay 2 Breakers though, so we were good all around. Haven't decided on 2017 costumes yet.

That is the sign of runner there. Birthdays are just ways to move to an easier age group. I've wanted to be a 50 year old woman for Boston Qualifying many times.

Which sounds great until you actually are a 50 year old woman. This 52 year old woman can speak from experience when you discover the multiple ways in which your body will happily betray you. ;)

i think it would also really surprise my wife....

I've found that even as a 42 year old guy there are a lot of random ways your body can betray you. I pinched a nerve in my neck earlier this week by sleeping wrong. You know you're getting old when you can be injured by a pillow.

As a 52 year old man (who eagerly anticipates qualifying for Boston at age 80), I resemble that remark! Of course, although having now been running for only about a year, I'm probably in the best shape of my life. Plus I have a 21 year daughter who got me into running who I can annoy and embarrass all around the course without scaring for life, so 52 ain't so bad...

As a new member of the 42-year-old club, I hear you!

42 is the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe, and everything. ;)
