Marathon Weekend 2017!

Oh that stinks. Stupid technology. Nice ADR's! I want to try Kona and Tonga Toast for the first time this trip

I had the Tonga Toast for my goodbye breakfast after Wine and Dine last November. I really liked it, but you have to like sweet things in mass quantities. It really was massive. I've also heard that they've changed the bread and that some people aren't happy about it. We'll see. I'll probably get it again.

Yeah I've heard that about the change. And I'm not sure about the banana but figured I'd try it one time.

So far I've got:

Kona Café, 1/4 - Pre-Expo breakfast
Sci-Fi Dine-In, 1/7 - Post-Half lunch
Narcoossee's, 1/8 - Sunday brunch
Le Cellier, 1/9 - lunch
Tusker House, 1/10 - breakfast
Crystal Palace, 1/11 - breakfast
'Ohana, 1/11 - dinner

ETA: Ahhh, it looks like I can make reservations for 180 days out, but not the +10. Sigh.

I'm doing Kona on Wednesday as well pre expo I believe. I'm going to be traveling solo Tuesday to Thursday as I'm the only one in our party doing Dopey so I think I want to do a couple things I have wanted to do for awhile when no one else is there. Kona I'm doing at 11. I was worried about going late as I would like some Dopey merchandise but I'm not sure my longing for that outweighs my hatred for standing in large pre opening lines.

Any suggestions from anyone for some good solo dinners for Tuesday or Wednesday? I didn't even think of doing this until today so I'm excited at adding more meals!

Good news for those trying to buy Southwest tickets--they seem to have come way back down. I was able to get nonstop flights for $114 each way at times I wanted :flower1:
Definitely recommend trying again tonight!

Just booked our flights! Unexpectedly great pricing at Southwest so we jumped on it!

My ADR window opens tomorrow. Anyone know offhand what time Dining reservations opens?
7 am online but I booked at probably 10:30am and got everything I wanted no problem except for via Napoli for a party of 11 which I knew would be hard to get.

Well, online isn't cooperating for me this morning so it looks like I'm calling...

Places with bars/lounges are good for solo travelers. I like to hit Tune In Lounge at HS. California Grill might good solo since they have a bar area but I don't think it's walk up. Honestly I'll go anywhere solo. Never a big deal.

ADR's made this morning subject to change of course. :) MDE was working for me at around 7:15 but couldn't get a couple times I wanted. Called in and learned something. Apparently Disney doesn't offer many tables for solo diners. Cast member made it for two which opened up more options and then changed it to one after it was booked. Something to remember on MDE for the future.

Territory Lounge in WL is a good option if you want somewhere more quiet, but with friendly atmosphere and interesting scenery--you can get some of the menu items from Artist Point next door too.

Lucky you! I'm still not able to schedule +10 online. Did you have to change restaurants to get the times you wanted?

And you're right about the solo diner issue. I had to suggest to the CM on the phone yesterday to try a table for 2 instead of 1 for my 'Ohana dinner. I've run into that before with 'Ohana and the Grand Floridian Café for some reason.

This will be a solo trip for me. I just choose where I want to eat and haven't had any issues so far WRT being solo. You might want to skip the family style dinners, like 'Ohana, just for the sheer mass quantities of food they'll serve you. Of course I'm not following my own advice on that one, lol.

No I was able to get the ones I originally wanted - Sanaa and Kona. The choices were too early or too late at Sanaa when I was looking for one. And Kona had no options at all for one person. Weird that your +10 isn't working if your hotel reservation is in MDE.

I'm doing Ohana solo, too. It's my "Treat. Yo. Self" meal for after the marathon.

For some reason I'm taking this eating alone thing more seriously than I ever do with our group lol. Usually I'm trying to just get my picky family to eat but now I feel like my possibilities are endless. I'll definitely look into Territory Lounge as I have never even gone to the Wilderness Lounge - now I'm wishing I was alone longer, HA!

Argh. My wife and I are planning to do the Half, and grandparents were going to watch our kids for us. Last month, they were a "Yes". Earlier in this week, they were "Maybe". Now, they're "Probably Not."

Now, we're scrambling to find alternate plans, while I'm watching the Southwest flight prices rise. The flights I wanted to book yesterday and now double the cost today. :worried:

Unless they have a good reason, it is time to call them on their fickle behavior. Once they committed and said yes, you made plans. We don't do this to people that we love. Call them on it.
