Marathon Weekend 2017!

Did all my ADRs today. I couldn't get on early this morning as we were out at the lake until this afternoon, but I still pretty much got everything I wanted with the exception of a lunch at Beaches and Cream. I'll keep looking out for one to open up, but if it doesn't that's okay too. It's always exciting to start getting the specifics laid out. 6 more months!! Woohoo!!!

We're looking for lunch in January at B&C too, as are others on the Disney Dining Reservations board, without success. There's some speculation that Disney has decided to stop taking ADRs for lunch at B&C but so far as I know, no official word from Disney. I just looked for a Dinner ADR there and was offered 8:15 PM, but of course that doesn't say anything about whether lunch ADRs are just booked up or no longer available. Hopefully the situation will be clarified by the time we get there!

Can you go to Beaches and Cream and just get dessert without a reservation? And good luck to you guys getting an ADR.

You can get everything except the kitchen sink in terms of ice cream at the walk up window. I love the walk up window. No way Jose is my favorite besides the kitchen sink.

Ah, good to know. I was really hoping to try their grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup. I try to watch the dining reservations board for any updates.

Same here! Waiting to see if B&C ADRs will be an option post-half marathon.

I can't make ADRs yet--I check in on the 7th so I'm planning. :coffee:

I probably should post in the dining threads, but I'm seeking advice here first. The 8th is a big day--we have a 1st marathon, a Dopey finisher, and a 50th birthday all on one day! Where do you guys think I should book dinner? There will be 11 of us. I am thinking California Grill so that we can have dessert with the fireworks. I could order a cake. It'll be crazy expensive, but gosh that is a lot of events to celebrate at once! Does anyone have any other suggestions?

We are not going to do the pasta party thing, so I'm thinking about the night of the 7th too. Would like something low key, probably in a resort or on the Boardwalk, and reasonable (maybe pizza?) and with just 4 people.

The training part has been really fun so far--I'm running with a Galloway group and everyone is so nice! I just joined in December and I can tell this is something I'll want to continue and not just do for a one and done (although I will probably do more halfs than fulls).

California Grill is a good choice for a celebration and the fireworks are a nice bonus. So many places to choose from after that I think it really just comes down to what you like. Lot of good choices in Epcot and some of the resorts.

As far as the 7th, there is Trattoria al Forno on the Boardwalk and Il Mulino at the Swan. They both have some pizza on the menu. Not sure how low key those are but just a couple I know of quickly.

We are doing lunch at 50's PTC after the marathon (well, booked it for 2:45 so we have time to shower, etc.), then have an ADR at B&C for 7:30 for dessert before we do the fireworks cruise on one of the pontoons with @Keels. @Keels, do you think that time will work ok for me? I have no idea what time we meet for the pontoons or where. I was just guessing, Yacht or Beach Club around 8:30??

Has anyone had good luck getting in to the lounge at California Grill? I'll be just one on Tuesday before the marathon and would love to try but I'm trying to decide if I should make an ADR or just walk up so I can hang out and see fireworks!

Love reading about everyones post race celebration plans! We'll be doing Shula's or just drinking around the world, that part is still up in the air.

It looks like I'm flying solo for marathon weekend and I really hate sitting at a table by myself for dinner. What are you favorite restaurant bars where you can also order food?

Any reason portobello has no availability?

I noticed that as well! I tried to go to their webpage for reservations but it indicated they open up 90 days before for reservations if you call. I'm guessing they haven't released anything past 1/1 to Disney yet but I'm not sure why!

Hmm that's weird. I got in there last year and this year during marathon weekend no problem.
That was our Marathon dinner place this past January too - just walked up (5pm-ish) without a ressie and were seated without delay (got busy later though)...

We did it early in my trip and it was crazy busy when we were there.
