Marathon Weekend 2017!

2pm at Hurricane Hannah's at beach club.

Any recommendations on the best place to park for those of us driving in? Assume we would not be able to get into the Beach Club lot.

I stayed there for my first Glass Slipper. I thought it would be super convenient, but it was just okay. The positive is that you don't really have to wait in line to get on. The down side is that you do have to change trains at TTC to get to Epcot, and then to get home, you have to hike all the way back to Epcot station and then switch trains again, which by that time, MK is open (for the half anyway) and you do wait in line, which when all you want to do is sit down isn't so great. Would recommend Monorail going to race and bus coming back.

I stayed at the Poly for the marathon 2 years ago and you can walk straight to the TTC and avoid the train change. The bus is a good idea on the way back if you want to avoid climbing the ramp to the monorail at EPCOT. I remember that being painful.

Off the topic of the weather who else saw the guy in the exoskeleton this morning? I passed him heading to go around the front of Spaceship Earth and he was going a fairly steady pace all things considered.

I saw him during the 5k! Everyone who passed him was cheering him on

Once I saw that the line wrapped around the pavilion I said nope! I waited for the ducktales stop and that was it.

I've wanted that picture since I saw a picture of my friend with them during the 2009 marathon. This is the first time I've seen them during a race I have done but I couldn't handle that line.

My wife said the monorail wasn't even open from the contemporary this morning and she had to take the bus. She also said she was herded to a bus after the race too. So still may need bus transportation anyways

Loving the Up to the minute posts! Flying to Disney Sunday for a week. Already booked at the Contemporary for next year Dopey.

Would love to hear about logistics of staying at the Contemp. Seems an easy mono ride to start right?

Monorail will likely be going for half and marathon only - bus to 5K, 10K start and expo. And you'll likely share those buses with the Poly and GF. Would be a great place to stay if you have people traveling with you who want to spectate the half and marathon.

Going back to the school issue real quick... I live pretty close to the parks and we had school busses making the rounds so at least on the north side of property they are back in school.

I'm just happy cause I'm working on my masters online right now and we don't start again until Monday and so I get to focus on running instead of having to worry about school and running!

Unfortunately I think they'd need to go to the pre-order solutions desk at the expo. If you try to call runDisney this weekend I don't think they'll answer since they're doing race stuff.

Have fun! My son and his 3 friends (running the Marathon) left for Boston Logan Airport at 5 this morning. In the air now... naturally the last thing he said to me before leaving was "can I borrow some money?" (not kidding!)
