Marathon Weekend 2016

Can someone who is at the Expo today post photos of the official race shirts? I'm excited to see the marathon shirt design!!

I am excited to see them too. i wasn't sure if people would consider is a spoiler.

So it looks like there is a decent chances of a wet half and full. Do you all have any tips for running in the rain?

So far I think the common ones are;
1. Wear a big black garbage bag to keep dry in the corral. Just get it way off course before you start running.
2. Bring multiple pairs of shoes. One pair of shoes for each race and then something different to walk around the park.
3. Bring an extra pair of socks with you so you can change them out during the full if they get soaked.
4. Cover the lower vents on your shoes with duck tape until the race starts to keep your feet dryer (i've heard but never tried this)
5. Wear less. I ran flying pirate in the rain and everything got soaked through. i found the less I fabric I was wearing the less I had to soak up water and get heavy. ( So I'd wear a tank top instead of a t-shirt) Most of the guys wound up going shirtless just to make it easier.
6. Wear a visor.

Any other ideas or corrections to this list.

After being the rain at the marathon a year ago, for those that wear glasses a visor or cap is a must. Otherwise you will be looking through spots for the rest of the run.

Heard about the duct tape but have never seen it. Wonder how many runners have ever tried that Flex Seal on their shoes.

One big safety item to watch out for is the lane marking paint on the roadways. They will be slick.

Good point. Well if anyone is interested I just saw that rD posted pics of volunteers in the shirts on the marathon weekend event page. The colors seem a little bland this year IMO.

A little disappointed in Champion's limited color palette. We get a black, red and dark blue shirt every year. The design is fine though. I'll wear them proudly; assuming I've finished 48.6 miles on Sunday.

Yes but some years we get a white shirt and some years we get a orange shirt.

I like the marathon shirt. My issue is with the length of sleeves. For the very small group of people that live in the heat year round, I wish there was a short sleeve option.

Even more agreement between these two forecast now. Saturday is looking wet and Sunday may turn out nice after all. Anything can change, so its worth still looking at. Tomorrows 5k weather looks good. For those there now, enjoy the expo and good luck with the first race/5k tomorrow!

That's why scissors were invented. I have more Run Disney sleeveless shirts than I can count. SW FL full timer freezing my butt off right now getting ready to go to the EXPO.

I know. I haven't cut any running shirt. For the TOT and W&D we had short sleeves. I know, then everyone in the colder climates would have wished for a long sleeve shirt for these events. I just wish they gave us an option

Standing in the hotel waiting for an airport shuttle at 4:00 AM and seriously questioning the intelligence of beginning a Dopey weekend with a 6:30 AM flight. Oh well, I'll be at Disney World in a few hours so what's one extra day of no sleep?

Same here - 3 hours sleep to catch 4am Uber to airport for 5:35am flight this morning. In Denver layover for another hour then Orlando to land at 4:30, race to BCV to drop off luggage and expo bound to get all the race stuff for Dopey and Castaway Challenges - how are the queues at the expo? Safe travels to all!

Guess what today is besides Expo day... Its Kings Day. Now you may ask why this is important, and the answer is simple. It's the official start to carnival season and KING CAKE!!!! I am thinking hard about going get one to take with me to Disney... for you know... carb loading purposes.

QOTD: Since carbs are mentioned, where are you eating and planning on eating to carb load for your races?

You would love the guy who runs my running club back home. I don't think there's a shade of neon that Ricky doesn't love ...
