Marathon Training Thread for the week starting 5/17

Ashley- I wish I was with you getting those clothes! I need to find somewhere that they sell plus sizes in those cool max, ect. clothes. You are not a nerd.... I like matching things too! As for the camel pack- the only thign that wpould worry me righth now is the extra added weight it would be on me! Carrying that water around could get to be too heavy. Please let me knwo how you like it after you've walked longer distances with it. I am thristy and would love to ahve water with me to drink whenever I wanted it! Thanks for educating us on the clothes, socks etc.- It's good to pass along everything you know- it helps us all!

Mishoe- YOU DA WOMAN!!!! Good for you girl! I'll bet you had just a sampling of what it will feel like when you cross that finish line! Thanks for the example- I'm gonna get me some bling too one of these days!

Wiskband- good for you for trying to quit smoking. Thta's got to be one big goal- but I ahve confidence in you that you can do it! I would imagine that as you quit smoking, your lungs are gonna clear up and runnig will become so much easier for you. In the meantime- you may want to keep in contact with your Dr. and let him know what you're up to with this marathon. He can give you some good ideas on what to look for and be aware of if there are any concerns for you. I'm not sure what you mean by your heart racing- but because of the smoking issue- I would for sure go and talk to you Dr. that way you can continue with confidence. I am truely impressed with your efforts to quit. Keep up the good work and please keep posting so we know how you're doing with the training .... and the smoking!

As for me- I'm doing ok. I ahven't done my 3 miles today yet, and I'm not sure when exactly I am gonna egt it in, but I will. And if I don't get it in today- I'll do it tomorrow!

This weeks training schedule for anyone interested:

Mon-rest
tues-1 mile (20 mins)
Weds-2 miles (42 mins)
Thurs-1 mile (20 mins)

Sun- 3 miles

Good luck everyone!

Hi everyone

Things have been really hectic and I haven't posted to this thread yet. I have only been able to get here for a minute here and there the past 2 weeks. DD had a dance recital this weekend and getting ready for it has kept us very busy the last 2 weeks. She did really well with her dances though and I am so proud of her :D the recital was great!

I will hopefully get the time in the next few days to at least skim through the Marathon training threads and see how everyone is doing. My house is a disaster and there is laundry everywhere so I need to get caught up with that too.

Since I twisted my ankle a few weks ago my treadmilling has slowed down but I am slowly getting back on track. I haven't done any running in the past few weeks and I am wondering how hard it will be to get back into that again. I did manage to fit in a 45 min fast walk (between 3.8-4 mph) both Fri. and Sat. and the ankle seems to be doing OK so I am going to start adding the jogging back in this week. I did keep up with doing my new Pilates DVD a few times a week even when I wasn't treadmilling so at least I was doing something.

I did managae to pick up 2 of the Running Times magazines with the WDW Marathon add/picture. If anyone would still like 1 just PM me and I'll get it in the mail to you.

I hope everyone is doing well with their training! Keep up the great work :sunny:

I am so confused. I just got a heart rate monitor and I used it on my TM session on Sunday. Unfortunately when I ran, I was ALWAYS above my target HR. It bepped the whole time, even when I was running below the speed that I walk.

Now I don't know what to do. Do I continue to run above my heart rate, or just keep walking at a fast pace in my zone till my heart rate improves? This is so confusing! I did walk for over 4 miles though, and this was the longest I have walked so far.
