Marathon Sunday Sights and Sounds

I, for one, am glad Craig didn't entitle this "Marathon Sights, Sounds and Smells." That would be a little bit too realistic for me. :lmao: :rotfl:

I guess I am getting a bit anxious about this Goofy thing, excuse me. :flower3:

Craig--Awesome, awesome, awesome post!!!! Even though the marathon was absolutely miserable for me due to injury and the weather, you made me look back on that day and actually remember it fondly. What's even worse, I really, really want to run it this year!!! I guess I'll have to pencil in marathon weekend 2010 on my calendar, and I'll see you at the start line in 2 years.

Ok I am so worked up for this whole experience on Sunday that this post totally made me cry. thanks so much. I knew there was a reason I was doing this whole 26 mile insantiy once more and that post just reminded me why.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who got choked up reading this! I'm taking 2008 off after having done the marathon in '03, '06, & '07 and I had some serious regret after reading this! I can't wait to be back in 2009! Thanks for the run down memory lane Craig! :thumbsup2

You all are much too kind. My first long Disney race was in 2004, and even with #5 coming on Sunday, I'm incredibly excited. Lucky we're between semesters right now, as I'm completely worthless right now. I had great plans to get prep work done this week, I guess it will have to wait for my return. Did I say I was completely worthless?

And just for my friend Howard, yes, for about 1/4 of a mile it is the sights and smells of Marathon Sunday. Hope for a breeze when we pass the plant  .

Craig,

Thanks very much for sharing with us. I am so excited for my first Disney Marathon, I just love reading all the details. I hope I am as aware as you of all the sights and sounds next Sunday. Hope to meet you soon.

Cindy

Craig,

Thanks for the Mental Picture. :worship:

That sure helps me get ready for this party. I mean run.

Thank you so much, Craig, for taking the time to share with us your memories of the experience.
As you know, after about mile 6, most of the experience was a blur for me last year. I am so glad to have read this and remembered some of the sights and sounds. It really is the most amazing experience! What I remember most about last year was the people cheering for us and that wonderful, joyful gospel choir. I plan to take in a lot more of the experience this year, to enjoy all of the good and the difficult parts and to thank God that we are all able to do this in body or spirit.

6. As you go over World Drive be sure to look down and see all the runners who have already cloverleafed down and are underneath you. This is a cool site, seeing a mass of humanity running in a line. Soon you'll be down there are well.

What if I happen to be in first. I will miss all of this. Damn!

Craig, GREAT POST! I just finsihed reading it out loud to my wife. She will be doing her first 1/2M on Saturday, and I'll be doing my first full M on Sunday. It was great to visualize each step of the race. You painted a great picture. Now as I'm running, I'll be thinking, "Oh, that's what Craig talked about."
