Mar. 19, 2009 Wonder: Aye, But We're Loved by Our Mummies and Dads

Stephanie, the kids and I will be at SSR from Sunday through Thursday morning! Want to try and meet up by the pool or Artists' Palette some time? We'll be going to MCO to get Chuck Wednesday night, but other than that, we should be around.

Regarding the port, there's a pretty cool model of the ship to look at, and I believe Mickey and Minnie make appearances, but I'm not sure what else there is to do prior to boarding. I'm with you, though, and hope to get there super early as well!

I have been trying to check our gty status and the website has been down for 24 hours.

I wish we could do a meet-up w/you guys @ SSR. We were booked in a 1-bed for that resort, but our waitlist came through at VWL. My daughter loved the main pool and the slide when we stayed in July.

Our dolphin encounter confirmation came back yesterday and we are on the 1:30pm departure. I wanted morning, but the woman said that Disney booked all of those departures. I guess we are using the same company, I just went directly w/them and saved a few bucks! We can leave on an earlier boat and enjoy the island before our encounter, though.:beach:

I'd normally say yes, but we're only going to be there one night. We'll probably get in around 11-midnight. We're driving straight thru from St Louis. :drive: I think I'm a bit crazy to attempt that with 2 kids...:rotfl2:

Maybe we can plan a pre-boarding DIS meet-up to alleviate the boredom?

Hey, another St. Louisan! Are you guys driving or flying?

We are flying.....and I am in aww of you for driving w/2 kids by yourself!!!! Holy cow, you are brave.:thumbsup2 We have a 6:15am flight out on 3/14....AirTran changed the times on us and the other flights would have arrived late in the evening. It will be an early wake-up.

What part of St. Louis? and, where'd you go to highschool? We are in Glendale.

LOL, Oakville class of '94. We live in Brentwood, so we're practically neighbors!

I won't be quite by myself -- I'll have DH. I may, however, take my kids to NC in the summer to visit a friend by myself. :faint:

:thumbsup2 So funny, we live a couple of miles from each other! Kirkwood High School...class of '90. I misread your post....I was thinking you were drving by yourself. So glad you are not attempting that one.

Here are my first two attempts at door magnet designs. Let me know if you think I should tweak them any or if you have a different suggestion altogether. I think it would be cool to have an "official" graphic for our Disney Cruise meet!

PS: In researching the Yo Ho lyrics, I learned that it's "Mommies" rather than "Mummies" as I'd previously thought. How embarrassing for this former Cast Member!

oh my gosh those magnets are so cute!!!! I soooo cannot wait to go on this cruise!!!! This is how I get through the day at school, I just keep sayinng think of spring break think of spring break...lol

Wow! You did a great job with these. I love both of them. But, if I had to pick one just for our meet, then I would pick the one on the left with Mickey and the gang. :thumbsup2

Wow, less than two months!!! :cool1:

Anyone else starting to pack? :rotfl2:

I'm only half kidding. I've been using the cruise as an excuse to go clothes shopping for my girls. I'm confused about what we need to wear. There's no formal night on a 3 night, correct? But there is a "dressy night"? Should I bring a suit for DH? We're not doing Palo's...just our regular rotation.

Is anyone staying in WDW the night before? We'll be at SSR and driving into Port on Thursday morning. Hopefully early. Is there much to do in port after checking in but before boarding?

Stephanie,

We will be at WDW from Sun until Th. but we are taking the bus or whatever transportation the are providing us. Is our little group thinking of wearing something to identify us--a button, shirt or something?

Kim,

These are really great.:cool1: Is it something for you to use on your door or will they be available to all the Dis_ers on this meet?

p.s. I've change my thread line up--going from 1st to latest. I want to reverse it but cannot remember how I did it in the first place. Anyone know how I can change this back?

Oh that's good to hear the pools are warm. I couldn't imagine going on a cruise and not going swimming at all. Yes, us being from the south, we are used to the water being very warm. Gee, can't Disney warm Castaway Cay up like they do their pools? Hee Hee :rotfl:

I really, really do want to go snorkeling. So, if you see a lady out in the water wearing a wetsuit, please don't laugh. It might be me. :beach:

BTW, I loved all your pictures. You have an adorable family. I will probably be like your daughter on the last day.

Thanks for the info on the mickey magnets. Hey, Viv...let's try to go to different Home Depots so we don't whipe them out of their samples. I've got the one in Mansfield. ;)

Haha.....I keep forgetting to get over there! I'll take the one on I-20 and Hulen!

We plan on snorkeling also...but I'm worried about the cold water. We plan to snorkel on CC. Although, I'm still not convinced I'm going to get into a bathing suit in public. :lmao: What time and where are ya'll going snorkeling?

The eariler you get to the port the lower number boarding card you receive. #1 is reserved for the cruisers in suites. The ship is loaded by the boarding card number, starting with #1...and so on. So, the lower the card number the sooner you get to board the ship. It was a really big deal on our first cruise, but I don't know if I'm going to let it bother me as much on this one. Some people prefer arriving at the port later and then just boarding without having to wait. I'm just all about getting my vacation started asap!!!

Ahhhh. See, it's been since 1998 since I've been on my last cruise, (gasp!) and I just don't remember all the procedures and even what we did while waiting. I do remember getting a photo with the ship name while in line. (RCCL-western caribbean) I guess we have no control over all that since Disney is providing transport from the Poly. Gee, I'd love to do a suite sometime on a cruise. Oh, well, I'm so very happy I get a veranda this time around. princess:

Oh, thanks for the info. on the pool temp. It's sea water, correct?:fish: :fish: :fish: :fish:

Hi,

I did what LeeAnn suggested about the mickeypath countdown. I made it, copied the path and put it in my edit signature. It didn't bring up the image, just all the path letters and numbers. I cannot imagine it is harder than that to do, I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. grrr. :confused3 any ideas? Do I need a certain number of posts to add something like this?

Kim,

Is it something for you to use on your door or will they be available to all the Dis_ers on this meet?
I'm more than happy to share the door magnets. Still have to buy magnet paper (and toner!) though, so it will be a while... If you'd like to print your own, let me know and I'll be happy to e-mail you a larger image.

Regarding the countdown image, I'm not sure if you need a minimum number of posts under your belt or not. I just did mine, and here is the step-by-step:
  1. After you create your banner, you'll see a page listing all the various codes (pseudo HTML, Ezcode, HTML, etc). Choose the first one (PseduoHTML). If you want to include the URL, copy from to the end of the box. If you don...all looks OK, click "Save Signature" [/LIST]

I never knew this was an option. How cool that we can switch!

I dug around and found it under User CP. Click on "Edit Options" and then scroll down to "Thread Display Options." Thread line up is the second box, "Thread Display Mode" and you'll want to use the drop-down menu to get back to "Linear -- Oldest First."

I am hoping to snorkel at the Blue Lagoon in Nassau when we go on our dolphin encounter. Then, I am also planning to go at Castaway Cay. No particular scheduled times. Maybe we can get several in our group together and do our own little snorkel excursion at CC. I would like to buy everyone in my family our own snorkel and mask before we go. Oh...and a head-to-toe wet suit so we won't be too cold. Hee Hee:rotfl2:
