Last week I saw a "map" of the treehouse locations.

I know there is a great overview of the old treehouses, but this map showed how all of the treehouses fit on the road.

Can you give me the link? I want to bookmark it.

There is a map HERE. I believe it's the last photo on the page.

Sorry I don't have it in my Photobucket account or I would add it directly to this post.

Now I am going nuts, I can only find 59 locations. One must be hidden by words I guess.

You would never guess I am obsessing about staying here for the first time next January. I can't wait for 2/8 to call and make my reservation!

I only count 59 too...there's a hidden one somewhere! :scratchin

:)

DVC is concealing a villa using Star Trek cloaking device :rotfl2: It's another 'enhancement'

they're trying out & may implement for future DVC resorts.

( really showing my age here :rolleyes2 i know talking Star Trek )

tj, any idea whereabouts on this map leisure pool location will be ?

TIA

wow you all must have xray vision casue I can't seem to get that pic of the mapof the trehouse locations to open up very big at all, any pointers?
I'm staying there July11-18, hope there aren't too many kinks to work out by then. Anyone know anything about the bus service to that area??

They have new resort maps up at SSR that now include THV. I was there last week, but didn't take any pictures. Maybe someone can post a picture.

Also, the path between THV and SSR went from THV to between the 2 SSR Granstand buildings furthest from the pool. But now they've added a branch off that path that goes a little more directly to the Grandstand pool area.

Ok so does this mean the Grandstand pool is going to become very crowded now with the extra guests from the THV and that the walkway between the two buildings is going to be the path of choice to get from THV to the main areas.

Here's a larger map that Stopher1 posted:

Sammie, although the THV pool looks very basic, I wouldn't think most families would make the trek to the Grandstand to swim, do you?

I thought the same thing. I cannot speak for anyone else, but I wouldn't make a longer trek to the pool IF the pool is within walking distance. If we need to drive to a pool (DH can only walk limited distances) then I might drive to another pool.

Not sure I just think that the THVs are going to stay booked year round and that is alot of extra people added to the facilities of already very large resort.

This is another thing DVC does that really irritates me. They add on to existing resorts without improving the existing infrastructure to support it.

Same with VWL, BCV, AKV, BLT, and now THV. If they are going to do these add ons to existing resorts they need a separate check in area, nice pools for these locations and definitely some type of counter service food offering.

It just seems all they are interested in are the rooms that will bring in sales but do the very least to the improve the guest experience.

During peak times can you imagine what the effect of that many extra guests will have on Artist Pallette and the main pool. :sad2:

The impact shouldn't be too dramatic.

SSR went from 828 two bedroom equivalents to 888. That's a 7% growth.

All things being equal, the increase in crowds at the main pool, and lines at AP or the front desk should be minimal.

The treehouses are adding a fifth pool to the resort so, viewed as a whole that amenity has grown relative to the number of rooms added. And while the front desk didn't grow, I don't think I have ever seen it fully staffed (I believe there are 14 or 15 positions.) That suggests the front desk was built with excess capacity to begin with and they can add staffing when necessary. Same with buses--if there are overcrowding issues it can be corrected by increasing the frequency of service.

Artist's Palette does seem to be a sore spot with some people but often times I wonder if it isn't a case of looks being deceiving. Back in February I was at AP for about 2 hours one morning. I even waited in line to purchase food twice myself. And while the line appeared long and the setup was a bit confusing, it didn't take more than 15 minutes to complete the purchase each time.

For peak breakfast hours I consider that to be acceptable. And I wouldn't expect Disney to spend thousands of dollars to operate a second restaurant just so people can be in-and-out in 5 minutes during peak hours. If that's the net result during peak hours, the staff would spend most of the day (non-peak) standing around with little to do. Even with Disney's deep pockets they do have a vested interest in eliminating waste--particularly in this "green" conscious age (wasted time, food products, utilities, etc.)

After looking at the map and where the bus stops are located I think we're going to rent a car for our 2 nights in Nov. We were thinking about renting anyway after the cruise as my grown kids want to spend one day at Universal Studios.

We were at AKV last week and when we went by to see the treehouses the road was open so we drove around looking at them. I can't wait to stay there over New years, we have 2 treehouses to use so all the family is coming. They look so cool close up. It was raining when we went by so no great pics.
