Mansions or AB----which is better??

We are staying at POR for our October trip with a request for the mansions. We stayed there in December and loved the area. Lately though, I have seen lovely pics of the AB rooms(even though in the past I didn't think we'd like AB)...SO...for those of you who love AB, tell me why you love it so much, why you think its better than the mansion area, and what's the best building to be in? SELL ME ON AB!!!

We'll be visiting the Bayou next week for the 5th time. Even though I love to walk through the Mansion area and see the beautiful landscaping, I prefer to stay in the Bayou - and our favorite building is #27 - located along the main sidewalk, half way between the Food Court/Main Buildings and Ole' Man Island.

Maybe if I'd stayed in the Mansion section on our first visit, I'd feel strongly about that area - but ever since being put in the Bayou back when the resort was called Dixie Landings, I've been hooked. It's so quiet - a feeling of seclusion. Sometimes I'd wonder if we were the only people in our building. I love the little paths and bridges, the ponds with water lilies, the rabbits and squirrels and ducks, the moss hanging from the trees.

Every now and then, I think I'll try one of the Manor Homes, but something always seems to draw me back to the bayou.

Give it a try - you won't be disappointed!

I requested mansions just based on the look of the rooms from pictures posted here... it was a difficult, because sometimes I like the "luck" of the room assigner... its all Disney, so its all good, but I get anxious thinking about it, do I want to wait for a top floor? Should I get a ground floor room?

Well, I did put requests in my ressies, but the end result will be wonderful!!

Thanks for asking the question, I'll be looking at the responses as well!!

We also prefer the AB side of the resort. I like the landscaping better in AB than the manicured lawns of the mansions, but I wouldn't be disappointed in either!

We just got back from AB bldg 27 room 2728!!! Loved the location, room and grounds!
Seems like there is more shade in AB when walking. Nothing was too far. If we get to go back, I would request this same bldg and room! Our mousekeeper was fabulous too!!!

How (almost) right you are!!!! We are about 20 minutes south of Kokomo, and that is, in fact, where my DH works and we do most of our shopping. Great guess! GO IRISH!!!!

Has bldg 27 been renovated at Port Orleans Riverside AB?

All of POR, both Riverside and French Quarter, have been renovated in 2003 and 2004

Our family also prefers AB. We were in bldg 27 too, nice and secluded, next to a beautiful quiet pool.

Either way, you won't be disappointed. If you stay in the mansions, make sure you stroll through AB..
