Thursday 17th June ~ High 93F
We needed to be up at 6.30am this morning, so Paul set the alarm on his IPhone. Well sadly as he didn't set his phone to US time, we were rudely awoken at 1.30am. I wasn't impressed and I didn't settle well after that, and eventually I got up on time
We quickly packed and were heading out of the Pop around 7.20am and we arrived at Portofino Bay 20 minutes later
Our first thoughts of this resort was 'WOW !!' it was so picturesque and I immediately fell in love with it
Surprisingly our room was already available, so we dropped our stuff off
The previous night there had been a Harry Potter Land event, so the car park was full of darkened window cars and helicopters were overhead as rumours went around that the JK Rowling and some of the cast were staying at the resort
Anyway, we were heading to Islands of Adventure this morning, and as we had just missed the water taxi, we decided to walk. It was a lovely morning, and it was only 79F, so we enjoyed the walk, though a few minutes later we reached the Hard Rock Hotel, and we caught the water taxi there for the rest of the journey
The park was already open to on-site guests (it opened at 8am) and only Marvel Land was open, so I was thrilled to be able to ride The Hulk. In fact as the park was so quiet, we were able to ride 3 times in 20 minutes, twice on the front row, and one of those times we had the ride to ourselves
Next we wandered over to Harry Potter Land, but sadly they weren't letting anyone in (roll on tomorrow
), so we cooled off on the River Cruise, where we got soaked
We carried on walking around the park and rode Spider Man, which had a long line but thankfully we were able to use the FOTL line with our room keys
We left IOA and headed to Universal Studios. We only wanted to ride The Mummy and Rip Ride Rock-it, but as the line for RRR was huge and it didn't have an express line, we rode The Mummy twice
Next stop was Mel's Diner for lunch (2 double cheeseburgers, fries and onion rings), then we left the park and took the water taxi back to Portofino Bay
