I was wondering if anyone has ever gone to the Mandara Spa at Universal? I will be vacationing at Universal during Mother's Day and was thinking about taking my mom to get a manicure and pedicure there. Has anyone had a Mandara Spa experience? Is it better to make an appointment now or can we wait till we arrive in Orlando?

Hubby and I had some treatments at the Mandara in October 2005 - it is a lovely spa...can't wait to go back!

I have not had any nail treatments there (I always have those done here at home before I go on vacation) but I'm sure it will be divine. I would suggest that you make reservations as soon as possible, especially if you want treatments around a "special" weekend like Mothers Day. They typically take reservations up to 90 days in advance.

Good luck!

DH and I each had a massage last June and booked it the previous day. It was wonderful can't wait for our next spa treatment where ever it may be on our West Coast road trip :teeth:

Claire ;)

We have tried to get in several times at the last minute, they are always booked. I would suggest making an appt asap if you know you want to go.

I'm staying at RPR the 21st and was going to go through concierge to book a spa treatment for DW on the 28th when we are staying at PBH. Is that early enough? Can I request the massage from a male or female? I'm thinking about just a Swedish. Does anyone have any recommendations for other treatments?

Hi MF :)

I have not been to the spa at pbh, but I am familiar with threatments, which are all the same. I would recommend a Hydro massage after a massage. I do this all the time. The hydro massage is not just a jacuzzi tub, it is a special bathtub with hundreds of little hydro jets and you lay down in the contoured tub up to your neck. You choose they type of treatment you wish to have and the type of jets you want (relaxing, reduction, muscle massage etc..) and you choose the treatment, they will put things in the water like seaweed or mud or floral or tea tre or a como. Since an attendant is with you the entire time, a mini facial is offered while you are getting your soak. I have to say the hydro massage is wonderful and I have lost inches from this treatment...it lasts for a few days too. Not only that but you smell wonderful and feel very clean , refreshed and very relaxed.

Another option is the scrubs. It is a combo of salt or sugar and scented oils. It is gently rubbed into your skin while you lay down (they do one side then the other starting at the soles of your feet up to your neck) then rinsed off in a vichy shower. You are left with skin soft as silk. It is also a light masssage, it is actually "massaged" into your skin, so it is like 2 treatments in 1.

Hope this helps. Usually spa treatments are in these categories: rubs, soaks or scrubs.
