Well, we're just back from our trip and had a great time :thumbsup2

I remember several people wondering whether getting a taxi from the Travelodge to the airport would be simple.
There was a steady stream of taxis the morning we left and the reception staff seemed to be 'on the ball' :goodvibes

A word of warning to anyone driving to the shuttle carpark on the morning of their flight
We did the Virgin online checkin so only needed to be at the airport one hour before the flight :)
Basically we messed up and didn't allow enough time to get through the busy morning traffic, deal with getting lost (as we always do!), parking the car and getting the shuttle back to the airport :rolleyes1

Rather than risk missing the flight I made the executive decision to park in T2 longstay, and they offset the cost against what I'd already paid so all's well that ends well :rainbow:

Alison, warm welcome home!!

I would love to hear more about your trip - how did all your plans work out??

Hi there,

I found the new shuttle park to be excellent value for money, we paid £44 for 15 days and arrived back home last week. The park is just great and the pick up and drop off is only 10 mins. As for the Travelodge, the family rooms and the motel in general was excellent value.

The Travelodge was excellent and, if we'd been more organised, I'm sure the shuttle park would have been perfect - £54 for 3 weeks :thumbsup2

I think there'd been an accident though on the morning we were trying to get there so, adding that to rush hour traffic and not allowing a little extra time, we 'blew it'.
Never mind :sunny:
There were several other families checking in who'd been panicking about making their flights

As for planning Miffy - plans, what plans.........? :rolleyes1
We ended up mainly 'going with the flow' (which we do best ;) )

We managed to do eveything we wanted to do - just leaving enough to go back, if possible...... ;)
We re-newed our vows as we'd arranged, met up with our friends from Orlando and England and DD got her limo ride

Very tired , and totally out of the time zone, (not to mention freezing my b*t off ;) ) so off to bed now.
Night all :wave2:

Alison

Welcome home sounds as though you had a wonderful time, I cant believe how quick its gone by.

Thanks for the info on the taxis from the Travelodge as I will be requiring them myself in October. :goodvibes

Welcome home..

Did the travellodge family room have 2 double beds or a double and 2 singles? We usually take an inflatable bed just in case the hotel has 2 doubles.

Do you really only need to arrive an hour before the flight if you have used online check-in - I didn't kow that, we still arrived 3hrs before the flight when we did this - perhaps we'll go for 2hrs.

I was planning to get DH to park in the short stay park whilst we drop our bags off and then myself and DS will go to the Airport lounge whilst DH and DD drop the car off (DD is too young for the lounge) at the shuttle park.

Hi,

Our room had a double and a pull out sofa type bed - a single pull out, under a single sofa type thing ;)

I think dropping off the luggage and then driving over to the shuttle would be a great idea :thumbsup2
That was our intention but one of the airport staff doubted whether we'd allowed enough time to get back.
I'd have thought two hours would be more than enough time.
We, unfortunately, went the wrong way round to the airport and then got stuck in rush hour traffic, trying to find the way back :scared1:

I'm so glad your vow renewal went well Alison! That was the plans I meant, really ;)

Oh, what lovely photos!! I love the colours you chose Alison :goodvibes:

Thanks Miffy :goodvibes

There's a story behind what I'm wearing as the dress I'd taken didn't 'feel right' so Sunday night, at almost midnight, I was to be found trekking around Walmart, desperately looking for a top to go with my suit and Eve's dress :rolleyes1

We got it right in the end though I think ;)
The bouquet was provided by the chapel and the colours were perfect

Alison

Just had a look at your photos, hope you dont mind. They are lovely, and you look so lovely, what a fab thing to do :goodvibes

Glad you like them

I took a deep breath last night and mailed the link to friends :)
I absolutely hate photos of me so I rewarded myself with a bottle of fizzy wine I got for my bd ;)

Alison, I had been thinking about your vow renewal ceremony, and by chance found this thread. Your photos look brilliant, I hope that you had a very special day. Will you be writing up a little report ? cos I'd love to hear all about it :)

Thanks Mandy :sunny:

Guess I was 'chicken' when it came to posting the link to the photos on their own thread.....

If I write a report you'll all see how totally disorganised we are with our planning.............. :rotfl:

I'll get my thinking head on :bitelip:
