Mammogram callback after weight loss?

I’ve lost 30 lbs in the last 8 months. I just had my annual mammogram and got the call today that I need to come in for a diagnostic screening. I used to get a US with my mammogram due to density, but once I gained weight that stopped. Is it normal for them to need additional images after weight loss?

I'd lost 30 lbs since my last mammogram when I went a few months ago. Sorry to tell you, but I didn't get called back.

I've gotten call backs when I was really overweight and I've gotten call backs when I've lost weight. Being overweight can make it harder to detect issues.

My thought is just they failed to realized that they stopped doing the secondary screening with the ultrasound and now want to start doing it again.
Often if you don't remind places what you have had done in the past they just don't do it.
I used to have an ultrasound of my thyroid every year then suddenly I stopped getting one and haven't had one in 5 years when I brought it back up at my recent appt they were like oh wait we used to do that? Why'd we stop? You better get that done again.

At some point the downgraded me from a C density to a B and then didn’t do the ultrasound last year. So maybe you are right.

I have had the mammogram tech ask if I have had any changes in weight since last mammogram before so I think it might not be out of the ordinary. They like to compare images from previous years and your baseline may look different now with the weight loss. Try not to worry, they’re probably being thorough! Congrats on the weight loss!
