Mama Melrose's Or Hollywood & Vine Twice?

My family is considering eating at Mama Melrose's in MGM-
It's either that or eating at Hollywood & Vine twice-
Any suggestions?

I had one of my favorite meals of the trip at Mama Melrose -- we had decided to try it, even though almost all reviews I had read were bad. I would definitely go -- we had a large group and had many of their entrees. There were no complaints, only happy eaters!

Do you have to stay in MGM? You'll be a short boat ride away from the EPCOT resorts where you'd have so many more great places to choose from.

We ate dinner at Mama Melrose and really loved it. The food was very good and the atmosphere was very nice. I would go back.

On the other hand we ate at Hollywood and Vine for lunch, and although the characters were great, the food was just OK.

My DH and I have always enjoyed our meals at Mama Melrose (I love the four cheese flatbread and usually get it every time; DH always tries something new and has never been disappointed). On the other hand, we did not like Hollywood & Vine--been three times and each time it got progressively worse for us (lack of selection; food being only "warm" and filthy bathrooms and lousy service). But you should go with the type of food you like best as everyone has different tastes.

Hi there, and welcome !

What's the age range of your group ? And what meals are you looking for ? Breakfast and dinner, lunch and dinner, etc. . . . And are both meals on the same day, or different days ?

My first thought was to go to both Mama's and H&V, just to experience both restaurants. But, if you are traveling with very young children, sometimes the "self paced" H & V is a better idea. Plus the characters are a great distraction. But if you're traveling with children who can sit still during a restaurant meal, then by all means, I would make ressies for both restaurants.

I haven't eaten at Mama's, but we did do Hollywood & Vine for the Fantasmic package...wasn't overly thrilled with the Vine...I'm just not a buffet eater...when we go back this summer I think we'll try the Mama's Fantasmic package....love Italian anyway...

I have read a lot of bad reviews of Mama Melrose, but I have always enjoyed my meals there.

Many trips we eat twice at Mama's We love the food, the service, and the chance to eat a relaxing meal and catch up with each other. What always stands out to us at MM is our first trip, DS wanted his baked chicken parmesan but it wasn't listed on the dinner menu (only on lunch). The waitress said not to worry, the chef would make one up for him THAT it the type of place Mama's is H & V--we did that once and it never made our cut again the tables were so close that there was no privacy; the kid next to me at another table just kept staring at us the entire meal ...the service to refill our drinks was non existent--we had to track a waiter down to get a refill....dirty dishes weren't bussed away on other tables....the buffet items were nothing special. Basically sitting in a huge room with tables everywhere and food in the middle--kind of a glorified school cafeteria We'll be Back in the World June 08 and Mama's is already reserved!

Sorry, I haven't been on the internet much.

I have my DH and an 18 year old daughter. We all have different tastes and we want to go on the Fantasmic Dining Plan...so it is important to stay in MGM.

Any thoughts???
