Mama Melrose-- YUCK!

I have seen reviews where people rave over the new twist on the tiramisu! (not on these boards) Sorry your meal was bad!
I think that I woudln't have been so surprised if I hadn't been expecting the traditional tiramisu that I got there last time. I'm NOT a fan of coffee drinks though. I would have never ordered it if I knew it was going to be a coffee drink with some ice cream on top.

We tried Mama Melrose last June because we agree, the food selection is lacking at my favorite park! Surprisingly it was one of our favorite meals of our trip. 3/4 of us had the steak, I enjoyed mine more than the steak at LeCelier. We are going back this June and hoping for another good meal.

I'm betting the same person did not cook our steaks!!! I've eaten at LeCelier before, and this steak wasn't even playing in the same league as the LeCelier steak!

Brown Derby is my new favorite for the fantasmic package... You can read my review - link below.

Too bad it's 2 credits. I can't ever seem to bring myself to use up 2 credits on a meal!!

Well, I too have booked MM for Fantasmic! May '11, having never been there. I'm hoping it'll be ok. I think a lot of the discrepancy in opinions is because they changed the menu since some posters have eaten there. Here's a recent article with a review on MM:

And PS- that is really gross about the peppers!

Thanks for the link. The reviewer's opinion of the tiramisu was exactly my opinion. The old tiramisu was really good-- why mess with a classic??! -Katie

Everyone has a different take on food i suppose. Mama Melrose was one of our favorite meals on our trip last August (it was our 3rd time there). We all had the steak and it was delicious, as a matter of fact I liked it better than my steak at California Grill. We had a great waiter, who brought out a complimentary champagne toast for DH and I because we had celebrated our anniversary earlier in the week (my TA booked this meal and must have noted it because we didn't mention it) and then kept calling us "sweethearts" which made my kids laugh. We have really enjoyed our meals there and plan on booking it again this summer for the FDP.

We went to Mama Melrose for the first time two weeks ago. It was just ok.
MY DH did have to send his goat cheese ravioli's back, they were horribly undercooked. The chef came out and they made him another plate.
I had the chicken parm, nothing special at all.
We had the flatbread for an appetizer, that was good.
MM will not be on our return to list.

We tried H&V and MM and were very disappointed with both. This is why we just skip the F! package nowadays and stick to 50's Prime Time where we have always had a wonderful meal.

I can understand the cannoli cake confusion. Cannoli cake is pretty common here in the Northeast, but not so much elsewhere. We thought it was quite good when we had it MM.

As for MM generally, we had a surprisingly tasty meal in August, but it sounds like things have changed since then. And, with respect to steaks at 1TS restaurants, they are just not dependable in quality. It seems to vary tremendously depending upon what Disney's central ordering group is able to get at the time at the best price.

We had a steak at Coral Reef we could hardly eat. We had a NY Strip once at Tony's in MK that was the best steak we have ever had anywhere on Disney property at any restaurant and we've eaten at them all (excluding, of course, the imported wagyu beef at V&A).

We were never able to repeat that steak experience at Tony's. The worst steak we ever had was one served at Chefs de France during free dining (we were not on the free dining promotion). It bore no resemblance to steak or even beef for that matter.

Overall, given the unreliability of steak quality at 1TS restaurants, we simply don't order steaks anymore.

We ate there Christmas night...I LOVED it. I got the oak grilled pork chop with garlic bread pudding and it was DELICIOUS :woohoo:. The grilled chicken flatbread was also tasty, as was the chicken parm. I can't wait to go back and was very pleasantly suprised, as I had read alot of bad reviews on the boards.
