If you had to choose one..which would it be & why?

Never been to MM but we LOVE 50's :) The atmosphere is fun and the food has always been good. Aunt Claire is our favorite server!!! She's great....

i'd do prime time:

cheaper imo, more selection of flavors, good fun and memories

mm seems pricy imo, to stuffy/formal for me , just italian no other flavors to chhose from.

We will be on the dining plan so cost isn't an issue. :thumbsup2

Anyone else??? Thanks!!!

I'd take Primetime if you've never eaten at either. Food at both is nothing amazing (not bad either) and food tends to be better at Primetime but the real reason to pick one over the other is Primetime because of the entertainment value. Mama Melrose just doesn't offer much incentive to eat there, although it tends to be the least crowded of any of the full service restaurants because of it's remote location.

50's is a huge amount of fun, if you get a good server. It's unique among restaurants because even in a city the size of Houston, we have nothing else like it. You can get good Italian food anywhere. Frankly, I'd rather go to Olive Garden or Carrabba's than MM.

In October, we had cousin Jimmy serving, and it was one of the highlights of our trip. We left with wonderful memories, and tipped extra.

We have eaten at MM and we were not impressed by it at all. We will not return here, in fact when we go this summer we are trying for the first time 50's PrimeTime and Hollywood and Vine. Not sure this helps but MM is not our favorite place.

I absolutely love 50's, the atmosphere is great, Cousin Patty is a wonderful waitress, we've had her the last 2 times we went there, requesting her the last, I'm hoping we can get her when we go 12 days too!!!! Like others said, you can get italian anywhere, but you can't get the fun at 50's very often. :rotfl2:

Never dined at MM but we will be trying it when we go next. DH loves the fried chicken at 50's. The food is very good, the atmosphere is alot of fun and the drinks are great!

We haven't been to 50's Prime Time, but absolutely loved Mama Melrose (and would return again). My 13-year old daugher was rather horrified at the thought of being embarrassed by a server at 50's Prime Time so that's why we didn't go there (or Whispering Canyon at Wilderness Lodge!). The food and service were great at MM. My DD had what she described as "Oh My God Good" chocolate cake for dessert! HA

We ate at both on our honeymoon, and I'd eat at 50's Prime Time again... Although, the Vodka Penne at Mama Melrose's was pretty good.

All around good food, great atmosphere, fun theme, great service and staff... 50's Prime Time is awesome!!

Sounds like an overall majority say 50's Prime Time! Ok 50's it is! Thanks!!!

Mama Melrose :thumbsup2 We have eaten there and the food was very good. Even our family italian gourmet cook enjoyed it. We weren't rushed, the service was great, and we really had a nice meal.

Haven't been to 50's - why ? - my friends went and hated the "interaction" and when they told me about it all.........no way. I don't enjoy that kind of attention. Bring me a character but otherwise I just want good service.

50's Primetime!!!! Food is good (comfort food) and the waitstaff is fun. One of the people in our group wasn't into the fun and antics and the waitstaff was sensitive to it and did a great job including her but not telling her things like "you didn't eat all your veggies so no dessert!!!" I think they know enough with all the people they serve who is "into the fun" and who isn't.

50's is wonderful. We went this past Sept and my MIL and D both said the Salmon was the best they had ever eaten. We also had the pot roast, and the chicken, there wee 6 of us. We loved the interaction and service was great too. :sunny: pixiedust:

We have eaten at both and would recommend 50's PT. Our meal at Mama Melrose's was just ok. I would go to 50's PT for the PB&J shake alone.
