Is it true that they do not serve bread with your pasta at MM? I had a hard enough time talking my DH into eating there because he does not like Italian food. Now I have to tell him that you have to pay extra for bread????

LOL! I remember when Mama Melrose discontinued bread with the meal and what an uproar it caused here!

Yes, sad, but true. You can still BUY an assorted bread platter with dipping sauces as an appetizer if you are so inclined.

Look over the menu before you go - I'm sure you DH will find something appealing.

I was okay with MM on our last visit, my kids were not. IMHO, DHS needs some better food options, especially for CS.

Enjoy!

It's stupid no bread. Being Italain it's simple math
macorni's + bread =Italian. :) I was brought up that way! lol
Mama Melrose need to get with it!:rotfl2:

we went in June and was shocked that an Italian restuarant did not serve bread with the meal. Overall we did not enjoy our experience here, our server was awful, food was decent, but our server was slow and forgot things.

I don't really care about the bread because I end up eating too much of it and then can't eat my entree. My DH was a little upset, but he orderd the bread appetizer last year and really liked it a lot. We've always had good meals here and great service.

No bread at an Italian place!?! Isn't that illegal?

This June? I wonder if your server forgot the bread as well.:confused3

Because complimentary bread was back in May when we had lunch at Mama's.:thumbsup2

The bread with dips was still an appetizer option as well.

We love lunch at Mama's. Refreshing break from the park. Good flatbreads and there are a couple other entrees that my family enjoys there. Dori and Kevin are fantastic servers.

June11 to be exact! But maybe it was our server, Whitney, Whitney seemed to "forget" a lot of things, she would disappear for long periods, and was slow as molasses! She "forgot" that we were on the Dining Plan, even though she and the hostess who sat us asked, she forgot the bread I guess, she forgot to bring out a spoon for the ice cream for DS5, and she never did come back with the spoon we had to flag down another server before it all turned to ice cream soup!!!

They do not serve you bread but you can order the bread and dip sampler. DH and I shared it last month and it was out of this world. Great roasted garlic, sun dried tomatoes with pesto oil and a roasted pureed veggie spread with a fantastic assortment of breads.

We were served bread in May. Perhaps you weren't, MickeyNiki since you ordered the bread sampler.:confused3

Or maybe they already reverted to no bread which would be a shame.:sad2: For years they served great complimentary sour dough.

Ok, this is weird because I'm pretty sure we had complimentary bread with our dinner when we were there mid May too! What's up with the bread?? :confused3

We had dinner there Dec 06 and no bread although we asked for it many times.

We had lunch there last week and DH asked for bread and the waitress said they do not have compliemtary bread but we should try the bread and dip appie...so we did.

Maybe she was just trying to get us to spend more money? :lmao:

We didn't get bread at Mama Melrose's either. I think every sit down restaurant should serve bread (except for buffets).

We have a ressie there in August. I will be sure to ask for the bread. We'll see what happens.

Yes, the complimentary rolls or bread were still not offered during our Feb. '08 lunch but were finally back in May. I think it was a year and a half or two ago when Mama's stopped serving it complimentary. It had evolved past simple bread or rolls with olive oil or butter to the dips being included gratis.

I would sure hope your server wasn't trying to upserve you. We actually started to order the bread and were advised complimentary rolls were back. And I should have said that before...it was rolls just like BD's this May.

Maybe the trick is to ask for bread or rolls.:confused3

Next time we go I will ask for bread, I am a carb loving Italian chick and I need my bread fix!

We were served crusty rolls and butter with our dinner around June 25th.
