I'm thinking we'll drive there this summer for a couple/few days and, on the way back, hit the Dells again.

So, what do we do there, besides shop? (which I'LL have NO PROBLEM doing) :p

Where should we stay? How much should I expect to pay for a hotel? dh has family there but, we will NOT stay with them/impose on them.

I'm going to order the brochure but, any first-hand experiences would help.

Should we even GO?

TIA
Kim

How about a personal guide?

I would LOVE that Beccy!!!!!!!! When I get details, are you interested?

That would be Soooooo great to see you again! :Pinkbounc

Yep! Let me know and I'll have the gas tank full for you. Maybe we could go to a Twins game?

You would know better than me but if they did we might be there all night waiting for someone to win.:teeth:

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!! GOOD ONE, Beccy!

:rotfl:

Give me the weekend and I can look up some hotels for you. Are you wanting to stay by the Mall or would you like a hotel with a indoor waterpark?

 Didn't know I had that kinda choice. I guess a water park would be great altho, that's what the Dells are for. ;) But, it would be a PLUS while we're there! Since we'll have our car, distance won't be a real issue. How far from the Mall would we be staying at a water park?

ANY suggestions would be great!

I'll be back in the AM to check this thread. :faint: (falling asleep now)

My hotel preference is the Embassy Suites near the mall. There are tons of hotels, some with mall shuttles in case you don't have a car.

There is so much to do around that area in the summer. The Apple Valley Zoo, Valleyfair (amusement park). If you go in the late summer, the State Fair is wonderful!

As for the mall itself, you'll find lots to do. Just look on their
"official" web site.

You could come Mother's Day weekend for our MN DIS meet :)

speaking of that, Kejoda I didn't see you post on the MN DIS meet thread!!!!

mine too mine too!!!!!!!!

but it has to be the AIR PORT one.... not the other.... we once made the mistake of going to the other one in bloomington (father from the mall however) and it was soooooo much more older looking and run down. Their services and attitudes didn't compare to the air port one. The air port one is closser to the mall. You have to go through this hwy then this one... and make a sharp turn here lol.... The air port one is better!!!!

The MN DIS meet is Saturday, May 8 at 5:00 pm at Bubba Gumps on the thrid floor of the MOA! We would love to have you join us!

There is no Twins game in town that weekend though. Besides the shopping, there is Camp Snoopy in the middle of the mall and the Underwater World in the basement. We have some great museums, art galleries and lakes too!

When we were there a few years ago we visited Fort Snelling (I think that was the name). If you like living history, you'd enjoy this. The "cast" were in period dress and spoke like you had gone back in time. For example if they discussed politics it was period politics, etc. The kids loved it.

Fort Snelling is very close by, and if you go to the south western side of the city (about 15-20 minutes away), you can visit Valley Fair amusement park. It isn't WDW, but it isn't bad either! There is also a great living history area about the settling of Minnesota at Murphy's Landing. They have houses from each of the cultures that settled in the area in the mid to late 19th century.

The mall is a day in itself. It takes a day just to casually walk it!!!! :D :D :D If you plan on doing anything with Camp Snoopy you do, seriously, want to plan on spending a day there so that you can do both Camp Snoopy and shop some.

They also have an awesome science museum/center in downtown Minneapolis. My brother-in-law volunteers there.

The Science Museum of Minnesota is actually in Downtown St. Paul right along the river. We also have one of the most beautiful capital buildings in the country! Similar in style to the nations capital with a dome etc. There are some beautiful gold leaf horses (called the Quadrangle) on the front.

The American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis is a wonderful museum in a grand old mansion.
