Has anyone made reservations with Interval International. We just bought into DVC and are waiting for our membership package stuff to come. My questions is how far in advance can you make reservations for outside one of DVC resorts . We're interested in going to Aruba in June 2006 - I will have the points in my account I just wanted to know when I could call to make the reservation and is a 1 bedroom the smallest accomodations you can get.
I was looking at the sheet and it's either one bedroom or two bedroom, do they not have studios. We're looking to stay at Playa Linda in Aruba.

Thanks in Advance

Dean is the expert.

Yes I think Aruba has studios.

and yes you can trade for a studio. However be aware that a 1-bedroom is a bargin (point wise) - the same is not true for the studios - they cost more points.

call member service now and see what they can work with you. the sooner you call the better.

I spoke to the DVC sales rep and asked that question. He said you can trade through II at the 11 month window.

I tried to trade at the 11 month window to Aruba & they laughed at me - Aruba is very tough to trade in to especially in March. I went to the website (most of the timeshare resorts have a website for this) & looked up my dates. I got a great deal for LaCabana in March for a studio for $950. I rented directly from a owner.

My suggestion for your resort is to go to their website & look for rentals. I think you pay more for a Disney trade. 160 pts would have been $1600 if I had rented those pts. I paid $950 for the week in March.

Any questions, let me know

I don't think you'll be able to request until you're actually closed. But in general you can request up to 2 years from the week you are trying to get and should generally request at least a year for best result. You need to know it's not a reservation, it's a timeshare exchange. For most good options it's unlikely they'll have it when you call and you can request an ongoing search, which you should be prepared to do. You can trade for studios and 3 BR, there are points tables for those I have previously posted. The difference between a studio and 1 BR is only maybe about 26 points so I agree that under the current costs, a 1 BR is a much better deal. For next summer (2006) you're chances are excellent I'd think.

If you're interested in a private exchange, I have 3 different weeks available for next year including the May Holiday and 4th of July at a different Aruba resort that would be less points than through DVC. Email me if you're interested.
