Making Reservations HELP

How do you go about it? -------Which phone number do you call?
What are the cancellation policies?---With room only and/or room and tickets reservations?
OR
Should you buy tickets separately?

Going at end of September.

OH and what is the latest you can change a reservation, say incase of a hurricane?

Call 1-407-W-Disney or you can go through a travel agent or you can book online.

If you book a room only, cancellation is 5 days or it was last time I checked. If you book a package, it's 45 days.

Usually if you cancel because of a hurricane (I don't suggest cancelling unless your flights are cancelled or you are driving, Disney is a safe place to be during a hurricane), you might be able to reschedule with no penalties if you explain your situation. However, you might lose your deposit if you cancel.

I prefer buying everything separately. I don't think packages save you any money unless they offer free dining or something else like that.

Again, hurricanes do not stop many from enjoying their vacation. You can read a lot of hurricane posts on these boards.

We are also going in the middle end of September
It is a great time to go...we went last year in September. On Monday my DH said he wanted to go and on Wednesday we were on a plane to Orlando. We did have a hurricane come (a day later) once we were there, but it was so much fun. We added 2 days to our trip.

Since we booked this September in advance, I did buy the insurance this year. The only reason why is because it is a very active hurricane season. We would cancel only if our flight is cancelled due to a storm. This way we will get all out money back and it is very inexpensive. We did not need it last year because we went on 2 days notice, but since we booked so far ahead I thought it was a good idea to have it. If you don't have insurance, it does not matter to WDW. They give you 5 days prior to cancel, but if your flight is cancelled that day and you can't get down there due to airport closing, you are out the money.

We will be driving down from PA. We will also be spending a day or two at the beach (somewhere). I think I will do the room only reservation. I think then we will know if there will be a hurricane on the way. Does Disney allow you to change the date of your reservations? And how close to the arrival date can you do that?

Well if hubby can change things at work we will be going sometime in between Sept 21-28. If not then Sept 15-19.
