Making plans, changing plans!!**New 6/18 Link to the TR page 14**

Oooh! I love games!!

Have you ever done the “Dine with an Imagineer”? If so, what did you think about it? Was it worth the time and the money? Bill wants to do this and I said why not? But now as usual I am back pedaling :scared:.

Sadly, no. But it does sound interesting. I did read someones TR a while back that did it and they enjoyed it. I can't remember the DISers name though. :sad2:

Have you ever done either tour at Animal Kingdom? This is what I would like to do, but I am not sure if it would be a problem with Bill being in his wheelchair :confused3 .

Sadly once again, no. But "puggymom" did one and it is on her most recent TR. Looks interesting too.

We decided to try some new restaurants this trip. I want to throw out a few restaurant names and have you tell me what you thought about the food, the service, and how the restaurant was configured. Some of them are ok with the lay out of the tables, but some are pretty tight this - causes issues with the wheelchair.

Narcroossee’s: Bill wants to try dinner at the Grand Floridian. If we go here it will take 2 TS credits each. Do you think it is worth it?

Kona Café: He wants to try breakfast at the Polynesian Resort for the Tonga Toast. Can someone please help me get past the fact that we will be blowing a TS credit on breakfast? I know that is silly of me, but I am a "get what you pay for" kinda person.

Garden Grill at Epcot: I have heard so many differing opinions on this place I am not sure whether or not to go .

Captain’s Grille or Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht club: Bill is a big steak eater and I thought he would enjoy one of these.

Chef Mickey’s: We feel a little silly going to the character meals and this one seems to be huge with kids, what do you think?

The only two of these I've done are Garden Grill and Chef Mickey's and I loved them both. Garden Grill is one of my recent favorites - we've gone the last four trips! :thumbsup2 I've only been to Chef Mickeys for breakfast but it is so much fun.

We also want to try some new counter service meals/snack ideas, what are your thoughts on these places:

Starring Rolls at DHS. I was thinking stopping here to grab something so we will have food to munch on while we watch the interviews during SSW in the wheelchair area.

Cosmic Ray’s at MK. I don’t think I have even seen the outside of this restaurant since we really haven’t been on that side of the park much :rotfl:

Columbia Harbor House at MK, I have heard a couple good things about this place, and read the tip about it being less crowded and quiet upstairs, but I would think there wouldn’t be an elevator, or is there?

I haven't been to Starring Rolls.

Love Cosmic Rays!

Tried Columbia Harbor House for the first time last October and was pleasantly surprised. The food is good and the upstairs was really quiet and peaceful. Not sure about the elevator though. :confused3

Sorry - guess I wasn't much help!

We will start out with the portion of the game.

Have you ever done the “Dine with an Imagineer”? NO

Have you ever done either tour at Animal Kingdom? NO

Now for the other half of our game:

Narcroossee’s: No

Kona Café: He wants to try breakfast at the Polynesian Resort for the Tonga Toast. Can someone please help me get past the fact that we will be blowing a TS credit on breakfast? I know that is silly of me, but I am a "get what you pay for" kinda person. It's on my list for October for breakfast....if it makes you feel better I think it's about $30 for the two of you.

Garden Grill at Epcot: No again...I don't like the menu and we see enough of Chip and Dale already in the parks

Captain’s Grille or Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht club: Captain's Grille is on our list for October for our steak dinner night.

Chef Mickey’s: We feel a little silly going to the character meals and this one seems to be huge with kids, what do you think? Me and my friend Tracey went in 2001 without any kids...we twirled our napkins right along with everyone else...I thought the buffet was pretty good...it's busy so try to get the earliest ADR that you can. We're going in October so it left a good impression with me.

We also want to try some new counter service meals/snack ideas, what are your thoughts on these places:

Starring Rolls at DHS. Never tried it..

Cosmic Ray’s at MK. I don’t think I have even seen the outside of this restaurant since we really haven’t been on that side of the park much .
I've eaten here twice...going back in October...good value on the DDP...just remember that there are separate lines for burgers/chicken/sandwiches...double the wait if you and Bill don't choose from the same station.

Columbia Harbor House at MK, I have heard a couple good things about this place, and read the tip about it being less crowded and quiet upstairs, but I would think there wouldn’t be an elevator, or is there?
Ate here last Jan...I got chicken strips...I should have gotten the tuna sandwich which is what I'm planning on for October. There wasn't anything wrong with the chicken strips, it's just that you can get those anywhere so I should have gone for the tuna. Yes there is an elevator (I looked it up in Open Mouse, do you have that book?)

My family did Dine With An Imagineer and we all thought it was pretty cool! Ours was a lunch at the Brown Derby with an Imagineer who was the head of fabrication at Disney. I think his name was Tim? Anyway, he was really cool and he loved talking about the behind-the-scenes stuff that makes Disney work. He also told us that the Imagineers all scramble to sign up for these lunches, so it's a good bet that whoever you get will be really enthusiastic!

We started off with a tour of the Brown Derby and all got engraved nametags, then went into a small side room, where us eight civilians and one Imagineer were seated. Lunch was a four course set menu, pretty tasty, and the conversation between all nine of us was fantastic. Afterwards, Tim signed commemorative plates for all of us with cute Disney phrases.

I probably wouldn't do it again anytime soon, but that's just cause there are so many other things at Disney I haven't done yet! But I'm glad we went, and I think it would be a total blast for Disney lovers like you and Bill! :)

As far as restaurants go, the only one on your list I've been to is Narcoossee's, and *that* one we are definitely repeating on our next trip! You also might want to take a look at Citricos - my whole family thought it was the best 2TS place at all of Disney.

First off, hi, MrsKsomeday! My name is Chrissie, I'm a single mom and go to disney with my DD17. I'm pretty new around here, joined just before last SSW, but no real posting until recently. Loved reading your reports and just found this new pretrip report! Fun! Actually, thought for sure I'd see you and Bill at Mgm at SSW and planned to say hi, or at the MVMCP but never did see you. Maybe this year! Anyway, on to the games.

As for the 1st game, nope, never did either of those things but they sound like fun.

Now for the restaurants, I've done a few.

"Chef Mickey’s: We feel a little silly going to the character meals and this one seems to be huge with kids, what do you think?"

Well, I'm an adult with a teenager and we both love the character meals! Chef Mickey's is really good, both for breakfast and for dinner, we usually do dinner there. The food is good and the place is fun. And, I see lots of table with just adults, and the adults with kids have fun, too! It's part of the disney magic and I think you two would have lots of fun with the characters!:thumbsup2

"Kona Café: He wants to try breakfast at the Polynesian Resort for the Tonga Toast. Can someone please help me get past the fact that we will be blowing a TS credit on breakfast? I know that is silly of me, but I am a "get what you pay for" kinda person. "

We had breakfast at the Kona because we missed our reservation at the character breakfast in the other room. No Tonga Toast, but the breakfast was good. The waitress could have been much better but the food was good. But, we did get a ressie later in the week for the character breakfast at O'hana's and it really loved it and had a great waitress. Definitely worth it! You can get Tonga Toast if you ask for it, the chef is happy to make it for you, or anything else. We had the regular breakfast. They bring out a large platter with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, home fried potatoes, ham maybe?, and Mickey waffles. Best waffles I've had! They bring you more of anything you want. Oh yeah, also some special breads, pineapple I think, and maybe a cinnamon baked good. Also a special juice they serve you, along with any other drinks/juice you want. Plus, Mickey, Minnie, Pluto and Stitch were there. They were really fun, I bet and Bill would really have fun with Stitch! So, I'd definitely say yes to this for breakfast even if it's a TS credit. :woohoo:

"
Cosmic Ray’s at MK. I don’t think I have even seen the outside of this restaurant since we really haven’t been on that side of the park much :rotfl:."

We loved this place! It is a CS and we actually had it that night after The breakfast above. We both had cheeseburgers that we really liked a lot! They had a nice setup with the condiments and stuff.and I discovered there were sauteed mushrooms and I got a big bowl of those, they were great! And on the one side of the room we could sit and see the beautiful castle with those icicle lights, so we definitely enjoyed this place. And a good value!:goodvibes

For a yummy, cooling snack, we love the Dole Pineapple Whips at Aloha Isle in MK, sort of across from the Swiss family treehouse.

Crystal Palace has a good buffett and the characters are Pooh, Tigger, and Eeyore! And, again, no worries on being a table of adults!

Casey's at MK, next to Crystal Palace had good hot dogs and we always make a stop there.

We like Hollywood and Vine at DHS and the Mama Italian restaurant(something like that). We love Prime Time Cafe and always have to go there, though the food is good we love the atmosphere most.

My DD17 likes the Lotus Blossom Cafe in China/Epcot. Very simple place but good food. She always wants to get the orange chicken w/rice there.

" I am not a flip flop kinda girl (ugly toes :headache:) so I was thinking sneakers. Tell me the most comfy supportive pair you can think of please."

I'm interested in hearing the answers to this! Flip flops don't give me enough support. I need big ugly shoes, being a rather Pooh sized. My feet always kill me and some really great shoes would be awesome!:worship: for good shoes!

"Next installment: Trying to find a place for our furbaby to go while we are gone :sad1:. [/QUOTE]"

Good luck with Ace! :)

Hmmm, sorry it didn't quote right, but I think I fixed it, sort of!

I decided I wanted to play a game with my readers. It is called:

gamepooh-1.gif

I know you have never heard of this game because I just made it up.

We will start out with the

portion of the game.

Have you ever done the “Dine with an Imagineer”? If so, what did you think about it? Was it worth the time and the money? Bill wants to do this and I said why not? But now as usual I am back pedaling :scared:.

have not been and just canceled my ressie for september

Kona Café: He wants to try breakfast at the Polynesian Resort for the Tonga Toast. Can someone please help me get past the fact that we will be blowing a TS credit on breakfast? I know that is silly of me, but I am a "get what you pay for" kinda person.
i use ts all the time for breakfast. character meals I use ts's. Kona would be worth it if it is good like the dinner I will be there on my last day and I cannot wait for breakfast.

Garden Grill at Epcot: I have heard so many differing opinions on this place I am not sure whether or not to go .
never been

Captain’s Grille or Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht club: Bill is a big steak eater and I thought he would enjoy one of these.
doing CG in September.

Chef Mickey’s: We feel a little silly going to the character meals and this one seems to be huge with kids, what do you think?
Biff wants to go but I lied and said it was full. We are doing CP and that is character. I say go for it. isn't Garden Grill a character meal? plenty of room in there for a wheelchair. it is buffet so service is really just drinks.

We also want to try some new counter service meals/snack ideas, what are your thoughts on these places:

Starring Rolls at DHS. I was thinking stopping here to grab something so we will have food to munch on while we watch the interviews during SSW in the wheelchair area.
never been

Cosmic Ray’s at MK. I don’t think I have even seen the outside of this restaurant since we really haven’t been on that side of the park much :rotfl:.
we ate there and had burgers. it was good. u could go in down below and get a table by the alien guy who sings and go get the food.

Columbia Harbor House at MK, I have heard a couple good things about this place, and read the tip about it being less crowded and quiet upstairs, but I would think there wouldn’t be an elevator, or is there?
that was packed when I went. we walked out.

Are there any other counter service places you would suggest, especially at Epcot? We always go to the Electric Umbrella, we like it but I would like to try something new. Keep in mine we are not to adventurous when it comes to our food :sad2:.
at MK try Pinocchio's. there are seats outside and in.
Epcot maybe the fish and chips CS.

Feel free to throw out any other ideas or experiences you think we might enjoy. I want to try different things this time. I like my Crocs, but I want to take at least one more pair of shoes. I am not a flip flop kinda girl (ugly toes :headache:) so I was thinking sneakers. Tell me the most comfy supportive pair you can think of please.
I have man feet so cannot help you. :rotfl2:

Next installment: Trying to find a place for our furbaby to go while we are gone :sad1:.

not very helpful but I tried. :sad2:

Can you believe I've only eaten at Cosmic Ray's and CHH. Both favorites as far as CS restaurants go. I don't know about an elevator at CHH...I think there is though.

Sorry I can't help you with the rest.....

If you specifically want to try Tonga toast, you can get it using a CS credit at Captain Hooks.:thumbsup2

Hi! Just wanted to let you know that I'm reading along. Thought I'd throw my opinions out there on a few of your ideas!

We decided to try some new restaurants this trip. I want to throw out a few restaurant names and have you tell me what you thought about the food, the service, and how the restaurant was configured. Kona is pretty tight with the tables. And it's really loud since it's right above the lobby of the Poly. Also, as someone mentioned above, you can get Tonga Toast at the CS at the Poly as well. I've heard it's identical other than the fact that it doesn't come with bacon or sausage. We had breakfast at Kona in December and it was nice, but I don't know that I'd go back.

Garden Grill at Epcot: I have heard so many differing opinions on this place I am not sure whether or not to go .

Very yummy ribs and chicken. And they've got burgers too. Very good use of a CS credit, I think.

Columbia Harbor House at MK, I have heard a couple good things about this place, and read the tip about it being less crowded and quiet upstairs, but I would think there wouldn’t be an elevator, or is there?

No elevator that I saw. The chicken strips are good though. We didn't have a quiet meal upstairs though because a woman insisted on yelling at a teenager who was watching her younger siblings. It was just sad. :sad2:

Are there any other counter service places you would suggest, especially at Epcot? We always go to the Electric Umbrella, we like it but I would like to try something new. Keep in mine we are not to adventurous when it comes to our food :sad2:.

We usually eat at the food court at the Land pavilion. There's a lot to choose from and it's usually very good.

Yes. What she said. ::yes::

Columbia Harbour House does have an elevator. It is in an out of the way place and you need to ask about it. The food there is okay--nothing to write home about.

Is it wrong that I've never tried Tonga Toast and that I've passed out under a piano on more than one occasion? popcorn::

Have you ever done either tour at Animal Kingdom? My brother and DSIL loved Wild by design.
I love CHH, but I don't remember an elevator. :(

Sadly once again, no. But "puggymom" did one and it is on her most recent TR. Looks interesting too.

Hi Michelle, I am now reading puggymom's TR :thumbsup2.

Yes there is an elevator (I looked it up in Open Mouse, do you have that book?)

Hi Heidi, we might just pay out of pocket for Kona's. I think we will choose from the same station at Cosmic Ray's. He will want the chicken and ribs and I will want chicken :rotfl:. Thanks for the info on the elevator, I forgot all about checking my Open Mouse :sad2:.

Hmmm, this is a thought, Bill enjoys the character meals, I will have to do more thinking on this.

For a yummy, cooling snack, we love the Dole Pineapple Whips at Aloha Isle in MK, sort of across from the Swiss family treehouse.

Again this is something we say we are going to do, but haven't done it yet :headache:.

Epcot maybe the fish and chips CS.

I have man feet so cannot help you. :rotfl2:
Hmm, Pinocchio's sounds like a good idea. No fish and chips for me, I had them at the Rose and Crown and had tummy issues :sad2:. That man feet comment was HILARIOUS :lmao:.

Can you believe I've only eaten at Cosmic Ray's and CHH. Both favorites as far as CS restaurants go. I don't know about an elevator at CHH...I think there is though.

Hi Jordan, thanks for the input!!

If you specifically want to try Tonga toast, you can get it using a CS credit at Captain Hooks.:thumbsup2

Hey TW, I forgot all about that, thanks for posting!!

I love this place. It is my favorite character experience.

Skip it. Food was very ordinary.

Hi Phibble! I think we are going to go for the Garden Grill, I actually love the land pavillion. Hmm, you want us to skip Chef Mickey's. Decisions, decisions :scared:.

Thank you so much for posting this. Bill is very good at getting his wheelchair into tight spaces, but sometimes they put us in odd places. Hmm, sounds like we might just do the character breakfast there or just do a CS, who knows, but I have to make up my mind very soon.

Who am I kidding? Have I ever left the reservations alone after I have made them? :rotfl:

Columbia Harbour House does have an elevator. It is in an out of the way place and you need to ask about it. The food there is okay--nothing to write home about.

Hi Piper, thanks for telling me that, if we go there I will ask a CM.

Is it wrong that I've never tried Tonga Toast and that I've passed out under a piano on more than one occasion? popcorn::

Hi Buzz!! It is not wrong and nothing you do surprises me. Shocks me yes, surprises me no :sad2:.

Have you ever done either tour at Animal Kingdom? My brother and DSIL loved Wild by design.
I love CHH, but I don't remember an elevator. :(

Hey Hedy!! That is encouraging about Wild by Design, I think we would really enjoy it.

Hi Tracy! Just getting caught up...

I'd love to play along with your game, but I only have one thing to offer...

I love Cosmic Rays! I've eating lunch there on all of my last 3 trips. The only issue is the 3 separate lines. I think there is plenty of room for Bill's wheelchair & the food is yummy! :goodvibes I need to expand my restaurant selections next time around. :rolleyes1

Hey Tracy! Haven't done any of the things you asked about, have eaten at some of the places. You've read my TR which talks about them, but I'll refresh your memory!
-We liked Cosmic Rays. I think there's a ramp down to the lower level w/ Sonny Eclipse. The chicken is good, the ribs are not.
-Columbia Harbour House: We enjoyed the quietness. I don't remember seeing an elevator, but if you go on an off time the lower floor isn't busy either. The BLT salad wasn't very good, but family enjoyed the chicken. They have a yummy apple dessert.
-Chef Mickey's: Go for it! There aren't any more kids than any other restaurant. You and Bill eat at Crystal Palace so you should try CM. (Avoid the prime rib!)

I think that's it. Good luck with Ace. You'll find someone great I'm sure!

It's always so funny how everyone's tastes can be so opposite. We love the prime rib at Chef Mickey's and the parmesan mashed potatoes are awesome, I couldn't stop eating them!! I actually found the recipe on Allears.net, though I haven't made them yet. :goodvibes

Hi Monica!! Thanks for the info about the ramp!! I am a chicken person, Bill normally likes ribs, he will probably try them anyway ;).

Bill loves things with apples, thanks for the tip about CHH. Bill really wants Chef Mickey's so I think we will go for it.

Hi Minniekins!! I have heard about the parmesan mashed potatoes, Bill will love them. Maybe they were just having an off night with the prime rib :confused3

the middle square of your siggie made me go :scared1:
