PTR # 4 Finding a Dog Boarder
We never had to even worry about Ace on our previous Disney trips. We would just say the words Animal Crackers and he would jump over us to get to the door. He loved the place, we loved the place, it was very affordable, and we felt he was safe that he was taken care of there. We do NOT want to board him at the vets where he would spend many hours in a cage. That is NOT going to happen
.
Yes, we know he is a dog, but he is also our baby, our lovely, cuddly, neurotic furbaby. Why neurotic you ask? Because all of the sudden is he horribly scared of thunderstorms, I mean so scared he is visibly shaking, panting, and looking for places to hide. He had never done this until one day at the end of March when Bill was at work and there was a huge lightening bolt we could see through our balcony door and then we heard a huge thunderclap. Ace usually hangs out under Bills desk any time he is feeling nervous, there or the under the dining room table. It threw him off that Bill was not here to protect him. Same goes for the vets office, he runs right for Bill after the evil vet gives him shots. So now we have to find a place where our baby will feel safe.
The owner of AC told us her mom might be taking a select few boarders, we would be on that list. Ace knows her mom because she is the one that groomed him. She lives 14 miles from us, normally that would be no big deal, but our trip is in November and the roads to her house are not on the main highway and it are many hills. If we got bad weather, there would be no way to get him there or pick him up so we are looking closer to home.
There is a huge bonus with the new daycare facility, Lady Pug
(Aces doggie girlfriend) goes there now too. Lady Pugs mommy recommended this place and we trust her.
I asked Sarah, the owner of AC if she knew of any other boarding places and if so, what were her thoughts. She told us about one that seemed very promising. I went today with a lot of questions.
How much human interaction do the dogs get? I ask this because I am one of those people that talk to our dog, yes talk to him like he is human. Just because he doesnt speak our language doesnt mean he doesnt understand it. After all Ace is bilingual, he understands English and Cerebral Palsy
.
How much outside time do the dogs get, if the weather permits? Is there an inside facility for them to play? If not they are immediately off the list.
How many potty breaks? Are there people are on site at night time to watch over the dogs etc?
I know these questions seem odd to some people. Ace is just a huge part of our lives and we would be devastated if something happened to him while we were gone. I dont think I could forgive myself if that happened.
Ok, now I am done with the dramatics. A new boarder was found and we seem ok with them for now. Ace spent some time there today and will be going tomorrow. He will be spending Sunday through Thursday there because Bill has a work conference in Springfield IL. Keep your fingers crossed for us.
Next installment What am I supposed to do while Bill is learning things at his work conference? Come up with touring plans of course
!!

, he was well cared for. He had a great time and likes the animals better than the people, but he is always like that. He was ready to come home. One of these days I will video how he is when we pick him up. It is hilarious.
.
. We ordered an appetizer and the entrees. He stated it might be a bit for my salad as he had to make it up. There was only one other couple in the restaurant?? Why would it take that long? Ok, no problem just give us our drinks if you can remember what the heck we ordered.
. He stated he was going to have to find a way to fix it
