June TR Link - Happy Birthday Bill The 3 day Birthday Extravaganza
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello again everyone
!! I couldnt stand it one minute longer. I tried to hold out. I told myself I would have no readers, that I would bore everyone into a coma
, but a little voice kept telling me go ahead write a pre-trippie, it will be ok, so I listened . (it was either Pakey, poohtigeey, scott, mkluvsmickey, or Jordan
)
This will be my second attempt at a PTR/TR, if you want to take a stab at reading my first report go click the Mickey with the scroll in my siggy. Have fun trying to get through that long winded mess of mine
.
For those of you who dont know us, I guess I better introduce the cast:
First up ME, Tracy : I am a long winded TR writer who loves WDW, the DIS, my son, our dog, and a wonderful man named Bill not in that order mind you. Well maybe WDW first just kidding or am I
? This will be my 4th time to WDW!!
Next is Bill: He has Cerebral Palsy and is in a power wheelchair
. He is a rebel, a daredevil, and most loving man on the earth. He is my best friend, my inspiration, my Prince Charming, and is utterly amazing. He loves Star Wars and especially Yoda
. This will be his 9th time to WDW.
Us at WDW in 2006 and 2007:
Lastly is Ace: He is our 3 ½ yr old Jack Russell/Rat Terrier that gets totally aggravated when the suitcases come out
. He literally moans, sighs loudly, and pouts. Those big, sad brown eyes really do get to me, until visions of Pop Century and the Castle invade my thoughts then its, sorry puppy Mamas gotta go.
Ace hiding under the bed after hearing that we are leaving him to go to Disney AGAIN :
Just kidding, here is Ace meeting Pal Mickey for the first time:
He looks so happy, doesn't he? If he understood that Mickey was the reason we leave him for days at a time, Pal Mickey would be in shreds
.
It seems that our plans were going to change many times. I thought it would be smooth sailing this trip. Although, I should have known better living with Bill
. I am finally starting to understand his go, go, go attitude though. When he was growing up he spent summer after summer either in hospitals or at home in casts due to his Cerebral Palsy, so we will go, go, go as long as he wants to.
I am going to sum up what has been happening to us this year especially for those that are new to us. As I said Bill has Cerebral Palsy and is in a motorized wheelchair. He has 3 college degrees and is in a Masters Program for Rehabilitation Administration. He is currently doing an internship for one of his classes. He is always upbeat, happy, and nothing stresses him out, except his ankle lately
. He has many, many muscle spasms a day and his right ankle has been hurting tremendously.
We had planned to go to WDW June 4 11th to celebrate Bills birthday
and attend Star Wars Weekend. Bills ankle got progressively worse and he finally relented to go to an orthopedic surgeon in January. The doctor wanted to do the surgery in March, Bill would have none of that, not until after my internship is over and we get back from WDW"
.
Dedicated or stubborn you decide!
Well, the internship has been going great, but the ankle pain got worse and we decided to cancel the June trip and make the November one longer. There were sad and happy emotions that day. We then batted around the idea of going to some baseball games in August (yes, I know it was a horrible pun, but I gotta do what I gotta do if you keep reading you will see I have a weird sense of humor). Just when we decided to go for that, I found out Kassie DePaiva (Blair from One Life to Live) was having a fan club breakfast on June 7th in Nashville, TN. Bill immediately wanted to go there. He has been smitten with her ever since this at SSW:
I booked a room, bought the tickets to the breakfast, and we were ready for a quick little trip to Nashville. QUICK LITTLE TRIP, remember those words.
Did I ever think anything would be that simple when Bill was involved? I should have known better. Well, they decided to turn his internship into a paid internship. This sent Bills mind spinning. I had been doing massages daily on his ankle, helping him with range of motion exercises so he was feeling better. So much better that he started plotting and planning.
He has a speech impediment, I can understand him very well, but sometimes it is hard for others to understand him on the phone so he has a TTY phone. With a TTY, the conversation is typed rather than spoken and direct communication is possible with anyone who has a similar device. Calls placed to or from a non-TTY user can be placed through the Telecommunications Relay Service. Telecommunications relay service provides voice telephone access to people who use TTYs. Specially trained relay agents complete calls and stay on-line to relay messages either by TTY, or verbally to hearing parties. He usually tells me when he is going to be on the phone, when he doesnt he is up to something
. One day I saw him wheeled up to the TTY phone and said who are you talking to? he smiled and kept typing. I knew we were headed for trouble.
He gets off the phone and wheels over to me smiling. I wait for it; I know he must have a plan. Here it was:
He wanted to turn the trip from being a quick little weekend trip to Nashville into this:
June 6th drive to Nashville. June 7th, go to the breakfast, go back to the hotel then to the Nashville airport, get on a plane to Orlando and go to Walt Disney World. Get on a plane back to Nashville, stay the night there. Get up early the next day and drive to Gatlinburg, TN to go to Bills parents house they have just built there. They should have it finished by the end of April and this will be our first visit there. They want us to stay there until June 16th and drive back home to Illinois.
It was those gorgeous blue eyes, they mesmerize me and instead of getting all worried (which I always do), I asked what are the dates? and immediately was online checking prices
.
Next installment What else do we get ourselves into and things are not as they seem
.
