:surfweb: I just listened to a pod cast and the folks chatting mentioned that there was a toy store at DTD? I think, where you can make your own light saber. Can anyone give me the skinny on that, we will be spending an evenging at DTD and my wife and dtr will be happy shopping while my son and I tag along, He would just love this, so whats the store called, where is it and what dose is cost to make your own light saber?

Thanks:banana:

My son did this, he made the double one, like Darth Maul has, and it was farily simple, have the cm there help you tho. It was $19.95, and that covers no matter what they put on it, they include the batteries, and it lights up. They have some pictures on display on how to make certain character's lightsabres, and it was simple to follow. It's in DTD, in the store called Once Upon a Toy, it's in the middle of the store, and you can't miss it!! Enjoy!!

Both of my sons (9 and 6) made one last fall and had a blast doing it as well. The cast member that was there helping was great. She made sure they got all the pieces and their favorite colors for the "crystal" inside

It's the same concept as the Build A Mr. Potato Head or a Build A My Little Pony. Pay a set price, and you can put as much on it as possible. Of course there are only so many ways to build it, but however you do, its covered under the fee. If you like Star Wars, and can get it home in one piece, it's not bad.

How are people getting them home if you fly to Disney World? TIA :thumbsup2

We did this last year, (by we, I mean DS's and DH). We flew and had no trouble getting them home. We packed them in out suitcases (the tubes slide together to make it small). Getting them home was not the problem. What to do with them all when they GOT home was:rotfl2: They are now, officially collecting dust. But they just HAD to get them:rotfl:

You can also now build a light sabre at Tatooine Traders, the Star Tours gift shop, at HS. DS built one of those Darth Maul styles there two weeks ago. If you make a double one, only one end will light up - just so you know. I had to take one "blade" off to fit it in our luggage to take home. But it just screws on, so it's easy to put back together.

I was very suprised at the quality and construction of the lightsabres. I have seen store bought ones for $20 before and they were no where neer as sturdy as the one from the build your own station. Definitely a cool investment.

The concept of making you own lightsaber is great, but I was disappointed in how they lit up. I wanted to make one but I watched two people have their's lit up and you could barely see the light. It was only a few lighted rings. Is that the way they looked after you your's home? The one they have on display is very misleading. It has a row of small lights all the way through it. I thought it would maybe light up like those pointed things they sell at Fantasmic. It seems like they could make them the same way or does any one know of a way to make them like that?

DS has a whole collections of light sabres and the premade ones are brighter and sturdier than the one he built himself. The light was not bright at all. Once we got home and I unpacked it, it wouldn't come on at all. I hope it's just dead batteries. If that's it, Disney has the world's worst batteries, because he only had it on for a few minutes.

Is this mostly a "boy" thing, or will girl SW fans enjoy it too?

Both my dd and ds will be making them on our next trip - my dd is just as big a SW fan as her little brother so she would be so disappointed if she couldn't make one too!
