Making homemade pizza

I have been on a quest for the best pizza dough and think this one is pretty good:

I also have a book called American Pie by Peter Reinhart that has a bunch of great pizza recipes. Dough is really very easy and with one recipe you can usually make 4 dough balls (equivalent of one pizza each).

May I ask WHY the EVOO all over? I would have never thought to do it? Does it add something or make it the pizza less "dry"? I don't mind using, just curiuos as to why? I want to try this recipe. I need quick & easy for DD's dance nights!

If your making a plain cheese pizza, the EVOO isn't neccessary. But if you have some veggies as toppings, it gives the veggies a little something extra.

I use the pizza dough from Sam's Club. They do take a while to thaw out but they taste really good and they are really cheap!

Our family's favorite is Buffalo Chicken Pizza:

Dice up some boneless skinless breasts and brown them in a pan with a little butter and Franks Hot Sauce.

After they are brown, let them soak in some more Franks and butter mixture.

Roll the dough out on a pan and coat it with blue cheese salad dressing.

Distribute the chicken and sauce on the dough

Cover with crumbled blue cheese and mozzarella

Bake for about 20 minutes at 450 degrees

I freeze leftovers in sandwich bags. It reheats wonderfully in the microwave for lunches!

On Tuesday, I am going to experiment with a pulled pork pizza that I saw today on TV. I'll let you know how it turns out!

I like Betty Crocker's pizza crust (use 2 packs for a nice crust) it's aound .87 a pack at Target and you just add water.

We make pizza at least once a week. I used to make my own crust, but have recently been buying the Rhodes frozen rolls. I like it because they thaw really quickly, and you can make any size crust you want. I've found about 9 rolls makes a crust for my 12" pizza pan. They take about a minute to thaw in the microwave. I just roll it out and top with spaghetti sauce or pesto, whatever toppings you like and then cheese. Bake at 425 for about 15 min.

I love all the ideas on here. This one would be perfect for me. My kids are grown and for the most part on their own. One roll would probably make a perfect size pizza for myself. Thank you!
