Making Her Wishes Come True: Surprise Proposal Trip!

She is a Crazy-Lucky girl!
Good luck!
I cannot wait to see how it all turns out!

Nope. We cannot take advantage of this offer because we're not doing a package and we already got a room discount through my cousin who work in the parks.

I'm excited for everyone who did get it though.

At least you are still using a discount!

Im hoping with the money we saved, my boyfriend can by me my own ring :rotfl:

Alright everyone I have neglected this thread enough for now. :rotfl2:

We are now down to 111 days left!

I finally had a enough in our lives to give an update. Hannah is starting a new job at a Honey Baked Ham cafe. Yes, you heard that right, Honey Baked Ham. There is a store front that sells sandwiches and full ham roasts and the likes. It's about 5 minutes from our house and they are going to be giving her plenty of hours so she should be able to save up for things that she will need during the school year.

My church league softball started! So far we're 2-0 so hopefully we can keep that up. I'm not much of a power hitter but I'm fast and can get on base a lot and typically I play first base since I'm tall and can stretch.

This past weekend was my brothers birthday. So we went to the new Casino in Cincinnati to check it out and play some games. I ended up on the day $7.50 and he ended up about $50 or so. The casino is really nice on the inside and is just really well done, I was impressed. Any day that you end up in a casino is a good day. We tried a new pizza place called Dewey's Pizza which was AMAZING! They had a Walking Taco pizza that everyone loved and I got the meatball pizza which was outstanding as well.

Still haven't gotten around to ordering Fastpass + and I don't know why I'm dragging my feet on it. Someone give me the motivation to get this done this week :rotfl:

Hope everything is well with all of you!

Ah we're totally going to be there at the same time. We're 113 days away! Not sure if I realized that before.

Honey Baked Ham sounds like an adorable place to work!

And a walking taco pizza sounds like something I need in my life !

Hm this update made me hungry lol

Sounds like a lot of fun. I'll have to give my BFF your review of the casino. She's a casino junkie and goes to the couple in Indiana on the river fairly often.
I can't get into it. Probably because every time I go, I lose my "spending money" 15 minutes after I walk in the door.

I guess we can't all be winners. Sigh. :headache:

I'm glad Hannah found a job that will keep her busy and help with school costs. That's a rough couple of years when you are trying to manipulate school and work, so it's nice when you find a job that works for you!

Lvcourtney- my boyfriend and I will be there at the same time too! I have 111 days left

I'm glad Hannah found a job so close to your home :) we have a honey baked ham right down the road. Yummmm

I have two casinos within two hours of me. Been to both. Sucky luck both times haha

I haven't ordered anything either if it makes you feel better

I am joining in too and like you said, I have a lot of readers, just not a lot of commenters. :)

I missed which dates you guys will be there.. Are you doing the free dining?

We got engaged at MK back in 2005 at the castle... :))) Can't wait to hear all about it!

Very cool Idea. We are surprising our kids this trip with even going. (Also driving from Ohio)

However, if we go to Disney in 2015(Our 15th anniversary) I am going propose again to her. I have been planning that for a while, but I plan to incorporate the kids into that plan as well. So I am eager to hear how everything works out.

We're going to be there Sept 8th - 14th. We aren't doing free dining because we can't have a package due to getting a discount through my cousin who works at Disney.

I try to not go to the casino's too often for fear of becoming addicted and losing my rationality that I have when I go. I always only take in enough cash that I'm willing to lose and leave my credit/debit cards behind so I can't take out any more. Then I just play the low -EV games like blackjack where I actually stand a winning chance if I play smart.

I'm glad Hannah found a job too! I'm still not looking forward to her returning to Michigan at the end of the summer. :(

Can't wait to hear about your vacation! It's coming up soon!

What part of Ohio are you driving down from? It's going to be a long and anxious drive for me this time considering the huge surprise I'm going to have waiting on her. I just hope she is able to sleep through the night while I'm driving.

Good luck in getting back to Disney and doing a re-proposal! I bet she will love it.

We are now under 100 days left before we arrive at Disney! We have 97 days left to be exact. The past couple of months I've been just kind of cruising by watching the days roll down waiting for it to be close enough to start really getting excited. I think it's about time!! Over the next few weeks (Monday's specifically) I will be putting posts together on what I think our days will be like from the day we get there till we leave. Hopefully I will be able to include some pictures for you so you can visualize it along with me.

The thing that is getting me the most excited about this is the fact that I've had it planned now for around 6 months (if you count when I first started saving) and she has NO IDEA! The pressure is really starting to mount but I've come this far so there is no way I'm going to ruin it now. I think I have every single one of you to thank for that too. Without being able to talk to someone about it I probably would have spilled it by now.

I hope this message finds you all doing well. I look forward to putting the next few weeks worth of posts together!

I just can't wait to hear how the proposal went. We added a day to our trip (totally the DH's idea) and now our dates are the same as your, just a different resort.

I hope this message finds you all doing well. I look forward to putting the next few weeks worth of posts together!

I had an awesome weekend!! My brother sent me a text late on Friday night saying that our sister had given him tickets to the Texas Rangers game and the seat were supposed to have been pretty good. I am so glad I went, despite having allergy problems. We were on the 3rd row up from the Rangers dugout and less than 10 rows away from Nolan Ryan and his wife, and former President Bush and his wife Laura. Even though the Rangers lost, we had fun. If we had just been a few seats down, we could have come away with a bat, since one of the Rangers let their bat go flying into the stands.

6 months a long time to keep such an exciting secret!!! Only 3 more months left!! When you've got the urge to say something, just come here and type something out. We will listen :goodvibes

Im getting excited for our trip as well because its coming so quickly!

Slowly but surely, the countdown is getting there.
Amazing when you think it's already been six months. Before you know it, you'll be an old married couple. :lmao:

Can't wait to read some of the details of your plans. :cool1:

You know how I said before about the Facebook group for sept. well I just realized you're on there! Don't know how I missed it :)

Hopefully we'll get a live update on the FB page as to how amazingly well the proposal went.

A trip report will for sure be done. I've come this far, I'm not letting you guys down and not posting how it goes! :thumbsup2

You guys have done such a great job of letting me talk through my plans that I owe it to you to come through with the juicy details afterwards.

Alright guys you got me too excited so I decided to start writing out the details today. I'm already through the Pre-Trip and Travel day, but I'm going to post them slowly so we can discuss things and kill more time before the trip actually starts. Join on in! Help me out! I'M EXCITED!

Pre-Trip

The plan is to tell Hannah about a week or two before that we are going to have plans this week. This is because she is going to have to request the time off from school for ‘personal/vacation’ days in advance so that she doesn’t get in trouble. Also, this will be good to tell her in advance so she can prepare to be missing school and can get any future assignments done/ready for when she gets back. I really don’t want my trip to be a cause of stress in her life considering she is starting a new program and it’s going to be imperative that she does well this year so she can get a good placement next year for her internship. I’m just VERY glad that she is allowed 5 personal days before she starts losing credit towards her grade.

I’m thinking that telling her a week or two ahead of time would be a good time to start giving out FALSE clues. I figure that she is automatically going to have a pretty good idea that something big is happening since I’m telling her that far in advance and I’m having her take a whole week off of school. We’ve been talking a lot lately about our future, getting engaged, getting married etc . So she has to know it’s coming at some point, and I’m pretty sure she will know it’s coming on this trip once I tell her we’re going somewhere.

However, that doesn’t mean I have to tip my hand completely, or even at all, which is why I’m thinking about giving out the false clues to throw her off.
Right now I’m thinking of having the false clues leading us to somewhere in Georgia (Possibly Savannah) as it will have to be some place south, otherwise when we leave my house and head south she will start to catch on right away. I know if I give her no clues and we head south she will automatically assume Disney since I’m so obsessed with that place. This is why it has to be Georgia, that way when we’re headed south she doesn’t suspect too much I’m trying to dupe her and that way if she wakes up prior to us getting to FL she will still think we’re on our way there. The ONLY problem with this plan is that on our last trip when I drove she slept for a long time but she woke up in Southern Georgia for good. Once we get out of Georgia she will be on to me.

I need to weigh the risk/benefit of these two options. Giving her clues that lead her to thinking we’re going to Georgia, but then once we get through Georgia basically having her catch on right away OR giving her clues that lead her to Ft. Lauderdale, FL instead so that way once we get into FL she still doesn’t know for sure, but she will probably suspect Disney right away once she figures out the clues lead to FL. What do you guys think?
