UPDATE HERE!!!
Tuesday, November 27 ~ Downtown Disney
Originally we had an ADR for Kona Café this morning but we were debating whether or not we wanted to keep it. Okay, actually I was thinking I really wanted to go and Tom was playing the voice of reason saying we really needed a day to sleep in and not have anywhere to be in the morning!
I eventually agreed and did cancel our ressie. Im glad I did, but mark my word, I will eat breakfast at Kona one of these days!
We did sleep in a little. While the kids and I got showered and/or bathed, Tom hit the gym at the condo. He gets migraines really bad unless he is working out on a regular basis and he hadnt since we arrived. By the time he was back and showered the rest of us where ready to go shopping!
We got to DTD around 10:30. It was busier than I expected! I guess since there was a MVMCP that night everyone else had the same idea I did! We shopped and wandered for awhile. We considered having the boys make their own light sabers but since they have them at home already we just let them tinker around with the parts for a few minutes and moved on.
We also checked out the potato parts. Evan and Owen have potato heads already. Owens is a traditional Mr. Potato head and Evans is a Darth Tater. They dont play with them all that much but all three of them were enthralled with all the potato parts! They each spent a few minutes making a potato creation. I knew you could fill up a box with parts but I didnt remember it costing 20 bucks! Please you can get a Mr. Potato Head for 5 bucks at Target!
So we moved on.
We hit Goofys candy shop and bought some candy. We also went into the pin shop and the kids all got pins. Owen got a test track pin, Evan got a Jedi Mickey pin and Abby got a Pocahontas pin. This is a shot of the boys at the pin shop.
By now the sky was getting very dark and we were getting ready for some lunch. We didnt want to spend too much time waiting so we just hit the McDonalds. Not a moment too soon either! Right after we got in the door the sky opened up and it poured! The line got very long behind us very suddenly! By the time we were done the rain had stopped! Perfect timing!
If you read my PTR you may remember there was some discussion about Abby going to the BBB (thats Bibbity Bobbity Boutique!). First she was all for it then she was not so sure. My faithful friends here did tell me to make a ressie anyway and I am ashamed to say I did not. I meant to! But I did not. And now the child has decided she really wants to do it!
While she and I went to see if she could get in, Tom and the boys hit the Lego store!
We approach the CM at the check in podium and ask her if Abby can get in.
Her: No, they are booked because tonight is MVMCP.
Me, thinking, not saying: Well, duh, that is why we want in!
Me, actually saying: How about the BBB at the castle in MK?
Her: If you pick up that red phone over there it will call the reservation line and you can see and also ask them if there any cancellations at this one.
Me: Thank you so much!
As instructed I pick up the red phone and I tell the CM that we are hoping to get an appt. at BBB ~ that we are standing outside the DTD one but that we are attending MVMCP that evening. Can we get into the castle BBB?
Her: I have a 4:30.
Me: Perfect!
Her: Okay, so 4:30 at DTD BBB?
Me: No, we need the castle. I thought you said the castle.
Her: I thought you said you were at DTD.
Me, thinking: Am I speaking English?
Me, actually saying: Thank you anyway, but that will not work for us.
For a girl who just hours ago said she didnt really want to do this, Abby was very disappointed. I think once she saw there were indeed girls her age getting their hair done she changed her mind. I thought up a plan and I thought it up quick!
We noticed that all the pretties they were putting in the girls hair were available to purchase in the store. We got a blonde hair extension thingy that was pretty, curly and frou-frouy and a tiny crown. I also told her she could wear some of my make-up to the party.
She was happy with that and I was too! Especially since the BBB costs $44.95 for hair and make-up and I spent $20 on the hair and the crown. (I am choosing to not think about what I couldve bought that stuff for at Target and I suggest you dont either ~ it will ruin the moment!
)
With our arsenal of lovliness in hand we start to wonder where in the world Tom and the boys could be. I tried his cell but it just went straight to voice mail. I realized he didnt have it with him. We scoured the entire World of Disney for them. Nope, not there. We went outside. Nope not there.
But we could take a picture with Cinderella!
And Aurora!
OOH, look at Santas house!
Where are those boys? Maybe they are still in the Lego store? We go look. Nope.
Back to the World of Disney. My ankle was killing me at this point and I really didnt want that to ruin my evening with Mickey!
So we found a bench to sit and wait and pretty soon along come the boys.
We went through the usual Where were you / we looked all over for you / why dont you have your phone? conversation as we meandered our way back to the store we came in through, which was the sports store.
Tom bought some golf thingy majig and the boys were trying to decide if they wanted anything. I guess ultimately they decided not because I dont remember buying them anything else.
I left DTD completely empty-handed and I am noticing a pattern! Am I ever going to get something for ME on this trip?!?
We left around 2:00 and headed back to the condo to rest up and get gussied up because weve got a party to get to!
Up next MVMCP baby!!!
