I've read that you can make little robot creations somewhere in Future World, and then take them home for free. Where would this activity be located exactly? TIA!

Its in innoventions west (the one next to electric umbrella.)
We did this on our last trip and it was so much fun watching.
First you listen about how plastics are made and then your kids (they asked if we wanted to do it also) make robots and then race them against other robots.
And once that area is done you go and make a robot.
Its a don't miss this if you have kids, mine are teenagers but still thought that it was a fun.

My kids did this last October. They were 9,6, & 4 at the time & loved it. They still have their robots in their rooms.

My son who is 6 really enjoyed it.

You are placed in groups and must complete all stations.
The first station you go to is all about recycling and all the different stuff that is made with plastic. You are listening and interacting with a live person.
Second, on computers, you build a robot and race it against the other players. Lots of fun.
Third, you go into another room that has different colored body parts of the robots you can build and take with you.

what age is this for?? Sounds like fun!

Well there are twelve station to make robots, when we went there wasn't that many people so they were asking adults if they wanted to do it.
All you have to do is get a pass for one of the computers, they hand them out as you walk in.
And I don't really think there is an age limit because in the group before us there was a lot of older kids and adults.

My daughter is 5. She loved it! They let her make 2 robots: one for her and one for her 20 month old cousin.

The learn about plastics in the first area. Then they move to the next area with a bunch of computers where they can play games, then they move to the robot building area.

The plastic pieces are actually made by a giant robot machine that's in the room with you. It makes pieces (legs, arms, front torso, back torso, front head, back head) of various colors and then a robot arm distributes the pieces in the appropriate bins.

The kids grab the pieces they need to put together their robot. There are tables set up where they can work. Parents are welcome.

We still have that little fella around the house.

My DS is a robot fanatic...how is it possible that in 4 trips to WDW--inc. 4 to Innoventions!--that we never heard about this?!??! We'll make sure to go there in May!!!

When we were there in December, I did this (I don't have kids and my husband decided to sit on a bench and people watch) and it was a lot of fun. My computer robot even came in 2nd in the "beauty" contest - but boy was it bad in the racing part.

The robot I got to make and bring home is indeed a thing of great beauty :rotfl: and is now sitting on my shelf.

We just did this this past weekend. I had no idea about it but a woman in line at Turtle Talk with Crush told us about it. It was my daughters 6 and 4 and I. I didn't play the game, I helped my younger dd but all 3 of us got to make robots. They are so cute, you pick their heads and bodies and their legs and arms in any color you want. Their are almost like puzzles. Very cute, i'm looking at mine now... my daughters left him on my computer this morning before school.

There's no age limit. DH and I made them last year :teeth:

I still have them in our apartment, and my little brother LOVES playing with them when he comes over.

 How big is the robot...I just want to plan on carrying then around. We eat at Epcot a lot...so we can get in there sometime during our trip.

Around 6 inches tall... maybe up to 8. If you use a backpack, a large purse or a stroller with a carry area you can stow him away with no problem.

we have about 6 of these robots! Plus I love the game that you have to play first! its such a cool activity! especially in the rain!

Can anyone share a photo of their robot? How is the entrance labeled? ON a side note, is the Electric Umbrella still open? I thought it had closed...

Wow, I never knew this existed, we will be sure to take DS6 on our next trip in June.

Thanks for the information.

I just looked at deb's site and it said that it was at the east side. Its called Fantastic Plastics Works and you can't really miss the sign.
When we went a month ago we ate at electric umbrella, so its still open.
And I don't have any pictures of ours, but if you want to see it go to deb's and theres a picture next to the information about Fantastic Plastics Works.

Can anybody give me an idea of how much time we might need to set aside to do this? Does it tend to draw a large crowd? We'll be going in June, so I'm guessing we might have to wait a while for our turn. Any thoughts?

I think we will try this on our next trip. It always amazes me how much we have never seen or done even with our prior trips!! :wave2:
