Making First Reservation - So is this the way

We are at the 11 month window and I want to make my ressies:

1. The first few days of our trip are not exact yet, since we have to wait for airfare to open up. So, for these days I want to use my 2005 points.


2. The next 4 days are firm, so I want to use my 2004 points.

3. The last few days, again, are not firm - because of airfare, so I want to use my 2005 points.

Ok, here are my questions:

1. How do I make sure that the ressies are taken from the correct year 2004 - 2005? Is it just a matter of double checking what the CM has done?

2. Do I bank my 2004 points first, before making the ressie or does it really matter?

3. When my dates are finally firm (most likely December since this is when SWA opens up), I will adjust my beginning and end dates. Will the 2005 points go back into the 2005 year?

One last one, with our resell we have 10 banked points. I know that we cannot transfer the points to another member, but can I make a ressie for someone for day one day?

What is your use year? Your trip is in April 2005?

Our use year is Feb. You are correct in that we are going in April 2005. Thank you for your help.

Your trip would be in your 2005 use year. So to use 2004 points, you would have to bank them before using them for this reservation. What you are suggesting will work, although I'm not sure if MS looks at reservations day by day but rather as a whole when assigning use years to it. Just make sure you use up those 2004 banked points if you do not have another trip planned before 1/31/06. Member Services will work with you to reallocate use year points if you have to change the reservation dates so that the banked are used. The 2005 points would go back into your account if you don't use them. Be sure to confirm point balances by use year when you are done with each transaction, that way you can catch any errors MS may make.

The 10 banked points, are they from 2003? They would have to be used by 1/31/05. You could rent them and make a reservation in the renters name, although you may have trouble finding someone who only wants to stay 1 night in a studio, that's about all they could be used for unless you want to rent more nights with your 2004 points (before they are banked) or borrow 2005.
