Anyone ever done this?? I was just looking at a boxed cake mix that I have in the house, and I saw on the side a recipe to make cookies with it - sounds.... weird yet intriguing! Anyone ever done it? How has it turned out??

Thanks

I have. They were very, very good! And very cakey.;)

I have also made bar type cookies with cake mixes, they are also yummy. I have an old Pillsbury cook book of my mom's so they of course want you to make everything from their products. Nothing but recipes using cresent rolls and cake mixes!

One of my favorite cookie recipe starts with a yellow cake mix. It's good! :thumbsup2

It's also one of my "secret recipes" that is not easily pried away from me at family gatherings! :lmao:

I have never tried this yet, but someone at my DD's school made these and they were wonderful!

She said she did this:

Bake a chocolate cake as on the box.

After the cake is cooled, crumble it up.

Into the crumbled cake, mix in a tub of chocolate frosting, and coconut flakes.

Roll into little balls, like little meatballs.

Dip each of these into melted chocolate and lay on wax paper to cool.

Really good!

1 box moist cake mix
1 container cool whip
1 egg
powdered sugar

mix cake mix, egg and cool whip together. Batter will be thick and VERY sticky
place batter in fridge for about 1/2 to full hour
get powedered sugar on your hands, roll dough into balls, roll balls into more powdered sugar, place on cookie sheet bake at 350 for about 10-12 minutes

My personal facorite are made w/coconut cake mix, then caramel mix.
trick is to NOT overcook the cookies, then they can be hockey pucks. Yu can use all different varieties of cake mixes and cool whip flavors. Quick, easy, not too expensive and ANYONE can do it!

These are about the only cookies that I make. I add frosting and sprinkles to them too. I will have to try adding coconut to the frosting as it sounds good.

that sounds delicious, I'm gonna try it.

I've made pumpkin crumble for christmas from a yellow cake mix (awesome)

and I make cake mix and put it in the waffle maker all the time.

Just follow the cake directions but then spoon the batter into the waffle maker instead.

A.W.E.S.O.M.E.

then put ice cream on top, if you don't eat it straight. Super.

then go out and jog two miles to burn it off, lol.

Here's a thread I started with 11 pages of recipes:

Cookies from cake mixes! Also: BISCOTTI and Cookie BARS

It has now been made a permanent sticky on the Cooking Board. It gets about 200 hits every 2 days. So I am really happy it's so useful to people. :cool1:

Edited: Ah! lynxstch, we were posting at the same time. :) I'm glad you made some great cookies from the thread. :goodvibes Thanks, GoodFairies, too. :)

I use cake mix to make cobblers.

16 oz fruit (I use peaches)
sprinkle one box of yellow cake mix on top
pour 1 can of lemon-lime soda on top (I use diet)
cover with foil and bake 350 for 20 mins
take foil off and bake for another 30 mins

It is so easy and good!

And I've been living all these years without the cake mix to cookie mix knowledge!!! I'll have to make up for it by baking baking baking!!!!

Yes and it comes out great! I do notice if I sift the mix first I get a better quality cookie.:thumbsup2

We always did the chocolate cake mix with peanut butter chips! Yum!!

Wow! I had no idea there were so many other things to do with cake mix!! I hate cooking but I really to bake. I like easy to do recipes. There may a lot of cookies around here soon! LOL!

Someone just brought these a couple of months ago to a birthday party I attended.

She said that she just takes a baked cake, crumbles it up and adds 1/2 tub of frosting and then dips them into melted chocolate. So good!!!

She did yellow cake (with vanilla frosting) dipped into dark chocolate and also chocolate cake (with choc. frosting) dipped into white chocolate (these were not as good as the others)

I like the idea of adding coconut, though. I'll have to try this.
