Do we need to make ADR's for Universal Rest. (WDW is 180 days in advance) if so, which are the hardest to get and when should I start calling (we are going in August). Also the Charachter meals, are they as good as Chef Mickey's or a waste of time, are they hard to get into or can we just walk up and be seated? Thanks for the Info. everyone.

No need to make reservations 180 days in advance. People are a little more laid back at USO.

Do I need to make them at all? Should I call the day of or the day before? Is there any place where I will absoulutely not get in if I don't make a Reservation? What about character meals, WDW those are the hardest to get into!! Recommendations appreciated!!

We have done the Character breakie at Confisco's Grille at IOA twice and had a fab time, characters were great .. first time we booked the day before, the second time i phoned a couple of months in advance ... this time we are hoping to do the Scooby Doo dinner at RPR and they told us to just phone a couple of weeks before ... Hope thats helpful

When are you going? Most of the time it is fine to stop at the dining cart in Citywalk the day you want reservations. For the character meal with Spiderman, you can call a week or so in advance: Here is the link with the times of the breakfast, days, and prices plus the phone number: http://www.universalorlando.com/hd_new.html

Are you staying onsite at Universal? If so, your room key works for priority seating at many of the restaurants. I wouldn't stress. Most of the time no reservation is needed at the majority of the restaurants.

We are going in August (not sure exactly which week), trying to choose between HRH or RPH. We have stayed on site before, but never for more than a night or two, we are planning on staying the entire week and never before with a 2 year old - so character meals are a top priority. Just so use-to stressing with WDW ADR's that I want to be sure. Do you know a link to all the locations/times for character meals? Appreciate all your help!

There is only one character meal at the parks: http://www.universalorlando.com/hd_new.html It includes Spiderman and usually Thing 1 and Thing 2, sometimes other characters show up also. It is breakfast and is at Confisco's at Isalnds of Adventure.

There is a character dinner at Portofino's Trattoria del Porto: http://www.universalorlando.com/ht_pbh_dining.html

Also a character dinner at Royal Pacific's Islands Dining: http://www.universalorlando.com/ht_rpr_dining.html

And a character dining at the Hard Rock Hotel's The Kitchen:

I'm going to move this thread onto the main Universal board since it gets more traffic than this board. More people should be able to share their character meals dining experience on that board.
