Making a guide book for people with NO knowledge of WDW!

I am in the process of designing a little guide book for our wedding guests to go in with their invites.

I thought it'd be a cute idea, we'll use photos from our upcoming trip, and make it nice and personal.

I alos hope it'll open their eyes to what a magical place WDW is, as most of them jsut think it's like Alton Towers etc. (one even said 'it is like Butlins' )

I'm including the following:

Introduction (About the size if WDW, history, number so hotels, parks etc.)
Page for each of the 4 parks
Page for water parks
Page each for Pop, CBR, GF (these are the 3 hotels our guests can choose to stay at for the wedding)
Maybe a page on hidden bitx/triva, like hidden mickeys and pin trading etc.


What do you recon? Things I should add/remove?

That sounds a great idea.

You could maybe put a page in the back with links to websites that you have found useful when planning your trips - especially if you have a link to your planning journal or pre trip report, or any other trip reports you may have done.
The only problem with providing them with all the information about what Disney has to offer is that you may find they struggle to fit in attending your wedding

I actually was planning a dining page but had forgotted to write it down! So thanks for the reminder!!

And a great idea about website links. I think I will say about the DIS, but I don;t really want them finding my planning journal, as I don't want everyone in on my plans. Like if they were to see there favours and stuff before the wedding and my dress etc. I wouldn't like it.

Is it wierd of me to now include any offsite information?

I've put an accomodation insert into the invitation packs, with info on Villas, but really I want the guide to be about Disney, as we aren;t going to do much offsite at all on our trip, plus I have a minimum disney room requirement I need them to fill!

I think we might jsut put maps in the welcome bags...not thought that far ahead yet!

I am sure off site for shopping at Premium Outlets would be appreciated by many, also nearby are loads of restaurants - Outback Steakhouse, Bahama Breeze, TGI Fridays, Red Lobster and Olive Garden, which gives a nice choice. Perhaps a map of the local area highlighting what is there including the main disney bits. Agree web links would be good esp for menus

Thats a great idea! I did something similar for my family too

I used the Dis (where else ) and cut & pasted information to make an overview of all the parks and a map of each, plus water parks, hotels etc and used Disney clip art to decorate the pages - half of me didn't want to give them out when they were finished

How about on the parks pages a little info on fast pass so they know how to use it and they realise it is free (if they think WDW is like Alton Towers they might think they have to pay for things like that!)

I think this is a lovely idea.

If you are concerned about them seeing your planning journal what about directing them to WDWinfo as many folks will just use the website part rather than chatting on the DIS

I think its a great idea. I also like the idea of having website links. Also if they are on the ddp you could also explain how that works as at first it seems very confusing and then you could mention about booking their adr's too.

Good idea!!

Great idea about DDP info too! Although i might send out info to people once they have booked their flights and hotel for definite, depending of if they are staying on or off site etc.

As we'll need to let them know about welcome meals etc..

I think this is a great idea

The only things I could think of would be dining, shoping (esp DTD) & other parks

If you are doing a welcome pack could you include park hours? I have just done a itinerary for our family trip with a page for each day and included all the park hours and our ADR details.

I did that as well. I'm doing it in 2 stages so as not to overwhelm them with info. Part one has gone out and part 2 will go out about 3 months before.

• The days around the Wedding
• Flight Information
• Hotel Information
• When & Where to book
• Car Hire & Transport
• Things to do in and around Orlando
• The next step
• Useful links
• Maps

Don't forget to put something in about the visa waiver programme.
