Makeup Questions!

Another SPF touch up powder that would be good for reapplying during the day is a Bb powder by Physicians Formula. It has SPF 50 and is the size of a normal compact.

I am the same age and would suggest Ulta. The top newer brands that work with older faces and I have worn are It Cosmetics, Laura Geller, Smashbox, and Bare Minerals. When running around I simply use a moisturizer with SPF then a tinted cc or bb cream all with spf. If I want a little more coverage I use a primer and a solid powder foundation I brush on but I never could use liquid without it looking horrible on me. Go and have them try different things on you till you find what is perfect on you. When you know what your want look at QVC for kits that are a heck of a lot cheaper and you will get really good brushes depending on the brand you go with.

Does anyone with sensitive skin find the BB creams more difficult (due to irritation) than a regular foundation etc? I have enjoyed seeing all this advice in this post and despite only being 30 I have been thinking that I may need to change up my routine due to dryness. The challenge I have is that any tinted moisturiser etc is more likely to irritate my skin than a product just designed to sit on the surface and not sink in. I have come to discover that I have to use all the hypoallergenic plain moisturisers and don't get irritation from foundation etc as it is not designed to 'act' on the skin.

Sorry to hijack, just curious and also noted that the OP had sensitive skin like mine is. OP also asked about sunscreen, makeup etc in the parks. I would love to hear this advice too as I like a little make up so I look better in the photos (not so washed out pale and tired) but would normally reapply sunscreen throughout the day.

I have sensitive skin because some of the cheaper CC/BB creams give me little red bumps and not acne. I know what brands work for me. I can not and never have been able to use liquid foundations but live the tinted moisturizers and powder foundations. I use powder foundations that are moisturizing and prefer either Laura Geller or IT for that and they all contain spf so no need for facial sunscreen for me but I don't have pale skin either.

I love browsing Sephora but when I'm ready to purchase, I do go to the Nordstrom/Macy counters because you cannot beat the fun free gifts you get with any purchase....thanks to those, I have not had to buy lip color, nail color, or moisturizer for years. I actually love the classics (Estee Lauder, Christian Dior, Lancome) because I love the products for their timeless qualities. Certainly not as fun and exciting as some of the colorful designers that are out there (I LOVE Urban Decay, Too Faced, MAC), but can always find great variety. Plus the counter workers are usually a mixed bag of ages, sexes, and colors which is great to learn different perspectives of what works for me. I know I know, a previous poster said her Grandma loves my brands too ....well, I'm on Team Grandma! Time flies so fast, I'm sure I'll be there in a blink of an eye anyway

I tried Clinique products recently and didn't notice any difference between those and the drugstore brands so sometimes more expensive isn't any better. It's a lot of trial and error.

I'm in my late 50s I've worn makeup since I was 13. Back then, all this advice was not available. Sure, skin gets thinner and not everyone has the same skin issues even within the same age group. I always tended to have extremely oily skin and used over the counter liquid foundation. The best advice I can give you is to hide from the sun as much as you can. Wear a hat. I have many different types of hats.

As far as makeup, I like Physicians formula powder & other products related to that line. I also like Josie Maran Argan Balm. My niece gave me some as a gift & I've been sold on it since. Even my husband loves it. He had terrible skin problems in his youth. Remember less is more. My opinion of makeup is the less you notice it on the better. Especially as we age. It may take practice. :cutie:
