Hi, since we're true Disneyholics I broke down and bought the Brother Disney sewing/embroidery machine SE270D at Walmart back in Nov. OMG I love this machine! I have NEVER sewn and find myself saying this is SO easy. Even my kids can embroider. We have put Disney characters on lots of stuff, sweatshirts, t shirts, sweatpants. I then bought this thing called an Amazing Box so that I can download designs from the internet and embroidery CDs to a flash card and put it into the machine. This works great too. Now I just have to figure out how many items I have to do myself in order to justify the cost of the machine ;)

I have to tell you something i hated to sew ..{ask my hubby} But since the pooh fabric has come out i have made 7 dresses for my dd.. And when i saw this machine it is next on my list of saving for after my trip... I cant wait to get it...LOL :flower1:

Okay, I don't know how to post pictures to this board so email me and I'll do some photos of the t shirts and washcloths that I've done. It really is soooo simple! I took home ec in 7th grade, 1976  and my home ec teacher was really young, right out of school. She is now a ESOL teacher (english as second language) teaching at my daughters' school. We laugh about how I didn't learn how to sew with her but I DID learn how to cook! I mean I couldn't even hem if it wasn't for that Stitch Witchery stuff. This machine is so easy that my two daughters, 7 & 9 can load the thread, start the machine and change the thread colors. The hardest part is hooping the fabric. I have talked to some people since I started doing this and they gave me some wonderful pointers that make my designs look a lot more professional.

I think I saw this machine, did you find it at Walmart? What price did you pay and how much was the extra thing to download extra patterns?

I paid like $435 for the machine at Walmart. I bought the Amazing box on ebay brand new for $200. YOu can purchase design CD's on there with various monogram fonts for <$20 and there are also a ton of free designs out there too!

Are you looking for extra income? We have a family reunion trip coming up in May and I was thinking about buying matching shirts with 1 Disney Design and maybe our family name or something. PM me if you are out for hire!

Truly I hadn't thought about charging. There is a big licensing thing with the Disney designs that you can only use them for personal use, no commercial use. I'd hate to get in trouble for that. Plus, by the time you paid me just for the thread and shipping you could almost get one of the personalized ons off of Disney direct. Have you looked at those? I just wanted to share this with others that were trying to cut corners a little yet still have Disney around them.

I have a Brother embroidery machine also but mine doesn't do the Disney characters (I can buy the cards for it though). I also have the Smartbox but am having trouble connecting it to my computer. Isn't it great all the things your can do? I made my Mom a shirt for Christmas that said "We *heart* Grandma". Then I used the little people designs and put her Grandkids names under each one. It turned out so cute! She just loves it.

You can do so much with them and it's fun. I hope to make my family some shirts to wear when we to to WDW!

Have fun! Brenda
