Any suggestions for brands and how to start off?
I don't want her in full makeup.
We have a sephora in our mall now -anything you like there?
Thanks!!

Bare Minerals/escentuals are what both me and my DD use. They are much lighter and don't make you look made-up.

Thanks
How old is your DD?
Did you start off having her wear every thing? or just a couple of things?
Do you order it or buy it somewhere?
:)

my DD is 12. She has a starter kit that they sell. Sephora sells it, but so does Target and Ulta.

Everything is a like a powder that you apply with a brush. She really doesn't wear much make-up, but she does dance and has to wear the whole shebang for that. For everyday she usually just wears a little lip gloss and a touch of mascara. Some of her friends were layers and layers of badly applied make-up which I hate. Thats why I like the mineral make-up, it looks more natural.

Clinque used to have a line called Almost- as in Almost Lipstick. My mom started me off with them at 13. It was a huge hit, my friends mom's then went out and bought their daughters the same thing. Sheer and light perfect for that age.

Call me cheap, but dd12 wears CVS - LOL! She started wearing mascara last year, and I think she now also wears eye shadow and blush - she's very light with it, so it's hard to tell.

I started out with a compact power, a small variety of neutral eye shadow and some lip gloss. I would hardly wear any of it though. I didn't start wearing makeup religiously until I started working in college.

Sephora is wonderful for stuff like this. All the consultants I have ever ran into have been super-helpful.

I agree with Clinique make-up- they have the Almost make-up and I think there is/used to be a line of "barely-there" or something like that. Lots of sheer options.

I would start with a sheer foundation, light blush, sheer lipgloss or sheer lipstick, and some brown mascara (with an eyelash curler!). That's enough to make her feel pretty and like she's wearing make-up, but she won't have it spackled on. ;)

thanks
disers are the best
beckmrk -my DDs looked like yours just last week -I swear they grew up overnight. The 13 y.o. one is taller than me and several shoe sizes bigger now.

First, find out what exactly she's looking for. Does she have skin that even needs cover up? Is she interested in blush? (I never was) Is she interested in eye shadow at all, and if so, colours or neutral tones?

I highly recommend Victoria's Secret Very Sexy Lip Lustre. Don't let the name and store scare you. It's one of the very few lip glosses that doesn't irritate my lips.

I love Ulta's eye shadows. Don't shy away from bright colours just because they're bright. I can understand if you don't want her having dark eye shadow and dark eyeliner raccoon eyes at her age. But don't shy away from bright, funky purple, blue, green, etc, if she likes them.

DD12 wears Bare Minerals. I started her with the kit from Sephora.

She wears that plus mascara, lip gloss, blush and some light eyeshadow.
