Hey Disers!
I'm hearing about all this construction (Disney Springs, Harambe expansion, Avatar, Star Wars, etc) and I'm wondering: Would it be a good idea to put off my trip until next year when some of this construction is complete?

Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks!

DW wants a break from Disney so my next trip will be with DD or maybe some co-workers. My last trip was Nov 2014. I'm thinking I might wait until 2016 before going back to let some of the construction die down. The thing is if I wait for all the stuff I want done I might not be back for a few years.

Finish DTD
New Soarin video
Avatar
MK hub
whatever plans they have for DHS besides taking down the hat

I'm starting leaning that way as well. I was planning on taking my niece in Nov. 2015, she would be 6 yrs old at that time. & her 1st trip & possibly only trip.
I'm starting to think that waiting a year might be better, hopefully less construction, something new for me to see, and niece another year older.

There will always be construction.

The HUB will be complete towards the end of this year (2015).

DTD or Disney Springs will be completed sometime in 2016.

Once construction begins on DHS (who knows what or when) I would expect that to take place over several years.

Obviously AK will have construction through 2016.

So if your waiting for construction to die down, you may want to wait until 2017, but even then its not safe to assume more projects wont be in the mix, especially at DHS.

We just got back from a December 2014 trip. We normally go 1-2 times a year to Disney, but after seeing all the construction everywhere we won't be back until December 2016 at the earliest. AK was nothing but walls! Downtown Disney was a nightmare! All the parking lots are torn up. My mom needed a handicap parking spot and there aren't any. Everything is closed or closing at HS. They really need to add something to this park. I would wait a while until things improve and get completed.

I don't recommend waiting on something that you want to do. There will always be construction, ride closures, and new things about to open. If you put off a vacation you risk the chance that it never happens.

I go frequently and the construction doesn't bother me a bit. It is only a very small percentage of the park that is under construction, maybe 5% at most. And I don't see the construction ending for at least five more years, if ever. You put off the trip now and you might never make it.

Just saw this thread, what is going on at DHS?

The hat was taken down, im not sure what else is going on.
any one have a list some where that says everything going on?
When is the new sorian video suposed to be up? I thought it already was. what one is it now?
Only been to Dl's not sure if its diffrent.

Classic overreaction, there is still plenty to see and do in both AK and DHS, majors shows and attractions are all running, yes evidence of construction and walls in AK (heaven forbid!!), but lots of areas to walk and experience the park. I agree both parks, and also parts of EPCOT, need upgrades (hence the current and future construction) but there is still plenty to see and do. No need to make it sound as if the entire AK is full of walls or that "everything is closed or closing at HS" when that clearly is not the truth.

To be honest if you're looking to wait for the vacation you might be better waiting until 2017. As many of the posters have stated there will never be a year where there isn't some sort of construction going on. For those of us who go on a regular basis this probably isn't a deal breaker, however it sounds as though this could be your niece's one and only trip down and it would be a shame for it to include a bunch of construction.

Both the DS and Avatar projects should be finished and the only thing major on the docket that you might run into would be any DHS expansion that could be going on.

I have thought about waiting but honestly we are just going to go if we can make it work. Then in maybe 4 or 5 years we will try again. This one has been put off almost 9 year already.(first trip to wdw was a mess in so many ways, this one is the redo first trip to wdw for my family) I would hate to put it off then never get to do it.

I think there will be pleanty to do and see while there mising some of the new things coming will be fine with us. Just gives us a reason to try and go back.

I agree. Life's too short to wait. Go! Enjoy! :goodvibes

I think everyone should wait until 2016 so it's not as crowded this year ;)

If it is a once in a lifetime trip, then wait until you can be happy with how it is planned out. We go every spring break and I love to see all the changes happening. If you go now, you will want to return and see the new things. ;)
