Make sure you purchase your tickets or upgrade your AP before this weekend

I’m considering getting the gold DVC annual pass. I can not locate the blackout dates for 2018-2019. Can anyone guide me in the right direction? Thanks

I just purchased these myself yesterday and while I didn’t screenshot the dates - I definitely made a mental note! The block out for 2019 Easter is April 13-26th 2019. (This will be ugly as all of NY and NE have spring break and it’s Easter and Passover...). This information was only available on the screen AFTER I completed my purchase!!!

(The winter block out dates are Dec 20 2018 - Jan 3 2019 but these are shown on the blackout calendar on the website).

I'm sorry, but you'll have to explain what you mean by "still."

When do you think that they stopped?

Robo - you are confusing me with this question...

Isn’t that the whole deal - tickets purchased prior to the last increase are not price bridged any longer. You even say it in your sticky :). You just get credit for your purchase price without maintaining your discount.

Only tickets purchased after the rate increase/current ticketing year are price bridged.

It's usually blocked the 2/3 weeks around Spring break and the last 2/3 weeks of December through January 2.
You do know spring break can be anywhere from early March to late April ( and maybe earlier or later) the back out dates have been a week before eater to a week after Easter. and then 2 weeks before Christmas ( about) and a few days after new years

1. You don't appear to understand all of the "details" of price-bridging...
but they have become so confusing, I can see why most guests don't.

2. I don't believe I say that. (I hope I didn't say that.)
3. Nope. But, they are bridged based on a different price list than "current" tickets.
4. Not so. They are bridged based on a different price list than "older" tickets.

Not correct. I don't know how to copy/paste from a tablet, but in post #5 in the ticket sticky there's a paragraph in red about halfway down that says that tickets purchased before the increase last year will not be bridged to the current price, but will be bridged to the February 11, 2017 price.

So, in theory, can I buy multiple AP (certificates) for myself and use them over the next few years since they're good until 2030?

Yes, in theory. :)

Thanks!

I'd talk to your financial advisor about investing the kind of capital it would take to do so.
(But, talk FAST!) ;)

:thumbsup2 Not sure I could financially swing it. Wish I thought of it quite a few years ago when we first started getting APs. But it's something to consider since the prices are just going to continue to drastically increase for the next few years with all the changes they've made to the parks and resorts.

I wish I'd bought a half-dozen new Ford Mustangs in 1966. They only cost about $2600, each.

The problem is, back in 1966, $15,600 would have been a FORTUNE to tie up in cars.

Things always look better at a distance. ;)

Now you have my curiosity up! Are you even old enough to have bought a car in 1966???

Posted this elsewhere also but thought I'd let you know:

DVC cm via chat told me that the vouchers are only good for 18 months from time of purchase and that I have to activate within that time in WDW.

He says "Different ticket specials that come up will have different rules attached with when they will need to be activated in order to retain their value. While the current Annual Passes will need to be activated within 18 months in order to be used as is, you will not lose the money paid for the Annual Pass as if you do not activate it within 18 months then the credit for the Annual Pass can be used towards the purchase of another Annual Pass at that time."

I guess I'm not ordering annual passes today. Phew. Glad I found out before I spent the money.

So I have a weekday select pass as I’ve downgraded until Star Wars is done how much is silver going up to if anyone knows off hand??

I bought DVC APs yesterday and in MDE it says it’s valid thru 2030...? Maybe call and ask again if you want to be sure? I purchased online - logged in to MDE and it recognizes my DVC Status and makes the gold ticket available...

Ah grateful for this thread. My fam and I have APs we will activate this summer but we just bought one of my nieces her ticket as she is joining us on part of our trip. Always appreciate the heads-up I get here on the Dis :thumbsup2

I may have missed it, so please forgive me if this has already been explained, but we're going to WDW for the first time in October this year. If I buy my tickets today through Undercover Tourist, will they still be usable for my October trip? As long as I don't use them, they should be valid for use until the end of the year, correct? The expiration only begins after first use so long as I use it before December 31st, 2018.

Yes.

Interesting - if this is accurate (and I understand you're repeating what you were told), activation of an AP voucher within 18 months is not something that's appeared in the fine print. I picked up a few AP vouchers this week and there's nothing on those about an activation window (in all fairness, they also don't include the 2030 expiration date - although that does appear on MDE under my tickets).

At first this struck me as inconsistent with the 2030 expiration - but maybe not on second thought. The AP time doesn't begin to run until the voucher is activated and you've gone through a gate. It'd be possible to activate the voucher (say in 2019) - but then not go through the gate - in which case the AP would not expire until 2030. In some ways what you've described makes perfect sense - because requiring activation of the voucher within 18 months would prevent what people have been suggesting - i.e., loading up on AP vouchers to use over the next few years. An 18 month activation window for the voucher would mostly close that loophole - the best you could do really is get one AP, activate it via the voucher within 18 months and then hold on to it until some later date prior to 2030 when you go through a gate to start running the clock.

I'm probably terribly wrong on all this - but I'm curious as to what develops. Guess we should know soon.
