Make sure you purchase your tickets or upgrade your AP before this weekend

We leave in 175 days for a 12 day trip, and were planning on getting Annual Passes (thus making it likely we go next year too) ... so I guess I'm ordering 3 of them today. Ugh.

Unfortunately, I can't blame Disney .... the parks are clearly often at capacity. As long as they are, they will continue to raise ticket prices every year.

With Pandora, a third and fourth big Epcot "festival" each year, the Disney Springs uplift, Toy Story Land, Ratatouille, Galaxy's Edge, the Guardians of the Galaxy coaster, and the Epcot overhaul, I think they're also counting on a lot more local visitors. Maybe it even goes back to New Fantasyland.

My Premier AP expires in June. Can I renew it this far in advance?

I just had someone on a Facebook page who said she was a gr cm say they sell renewal certificates, that you can buy at the current renewal price for your pass, and save to use whenever you next renew. She said they are gearing up to sell a lot of them today and tomorrow.

Taking this to its illogical conclusion...
You could buy 12 of those and use them to renew (at the old price) for the next dozen years.

This has been mentioned a couple of times in this thread already. It isn't an irrational assumption that consistently high crowding in the parks means that Disney is leaving money on the table with lower price increases than they could have made. However, I think Disney knows so much more about us that we think they know that they'll never increase prices high enough to hurt restaurant and souvenir sales more than the price increase. They are increasing prices just the correct amount.

Yea, and I'm one that will pay whatever they charge. Cause I love the Mouse!

It’s already been reported earlier in the thread that AP vouchers expire in 2030. So yes - you can hold them until 2020.

Is the only way to buy an AP online? Can you call? And if so, can you still only use 1 Disney gift card? So only $1000 can be put towards purchase with Disney gift card. Hate to shell out the money now for 3 but we were going to upgrade this summer anyway and I just can't risk the price bridging not working the same way.

It was new to me, too! She seemed very credible. I just renewed this month, so I specifically asked her if I could buy a certificate and save it for my next renewal. She said I certainly could.

Here's her comment:

"I work in guest relations and sell them on a daily basis. A lot of people buy renewal certificates- I sold several hundred when the DVC promo was about to end. It works just like buying a renewal early. You come in when your pass is eligible for renewal and we upgrade the cert into the ticket. It has same rules as buying a renewal- exp date will be one year from when your old pass expired, if FL res or DVC proof of those must be brought in with you to activate. We are gearing up today at work because we know we will get a ton of guests today wanting to by renewal or new AP certs and regular tickets before price increase."

The AP certificates ARE valid through 2030,
but I'm not so sure about the mentioned "renewal certificates."
That doesn't sound right, to me.

Just being logical...

A regular AP RENEWAL actually IS it's own built-in discount.
Being able to simply decide to purchase a "renewal certificate" (at a locked-in lower price) well in advance and use it sometime at
an undefined "future date" doesn't track very well with AP policy.

If this were a "regular thing,"
why did Disney specifically change the renewal window from the traditional "30 days before"
to "60 days before" a few years back... to accommodate 60 day advance FP+ bookings.

A friend who is also a DVC owner and I were having a conversation several months back and she made the comment that Disney probably knows more about us than the IRS does. Kinda funny...kinda scary that it's probably not inaccurate.
