In addition to all of the tips already mentioned (plan the next trip, download audio - my computer starts by saying "Welcome to the Magic Kingdom" and ends with "Please stand clear of the doors....!"), I am making detailed plans to turn my classroom next year into my own little WALT DISNEY WORLD!!

Not sure which grade level I will have - when I find out, I'll add a post looking for more tips but for right now, I keep myself busy with basic decor plans and themes. Just knowing I will be surrounded on a daily basis with my own piece of the "world" makes me smile!
:earsgirl:

For those of you who are interested, I've collected standees (those cardboard cutouts that display at video stores, etc.), I have furniture, wallhangings, bulletin board themes (ex: Buzz Lightyear - "Reading Takes You to Infinity and Beyond!!!") I'm planning sections to coordinate with each park - ex: Animal Kingdom for plants, nature study, environment, etc. Magic Kingdom - Reading, Literature. Epcot - Science, etc. and so on.

Don't forget to add world cultures to your lesson plans for Epcot. That was always one of my favorite subjects.

Love to see you totally digging your job and going out of your way to make it interesting for your students.

(my DS would be quite stoked to walk into your classroom!:D - but then he is a total WDW wacko.)

"Don't forget to add world cultures to your lesson plans for Epcot."

DEFINITELY!!!

We are going at the end of June and I plan to stock up on lots of goodies at world showcase - hopefully some free! I keep telling DH that's it's tax deductible but I think that's only up to a few hundred $ and of course I'm already WAY over that! The way I figure, if I surround myself with WDW memories, then I save him a much needed therapy bill!!!

How ironic.....my work pc has had the same wavs playing on Startup and Shutdown for a long time.

I'm not a computer wiz like some of you :(
my computer starts by saying "Welcome to the Magic Kingdom" and ends with "Please stand clear of the doors....!"
So how do you put this into your computer???
Where do you find the "sounds" of WDW???
Thanks!:)

cindyfan, it's pretty easy. Use this link to see if you can find the right wav files - there are a few sites linked in that thread. Then all you have to do when you have the wav files on your computer is to go into Windows/Control Panel/Sounds and set them for Start Windows and Exit Windows. (This is assuming you're using a Microsoft Windows operating system on your computer.)

If you can't find the wav files or have trouble setting them up, just email me and I'll help you.

Hey teacher, what's a guy gotta do to get a fastpass in your class;)

HOW COOL - Micca's comment got me thinking.... instead of getting a hallpass to roam the halls during class....it has to be refered to as a FastPass.

Oh, you could have so much fun with this project!

Very awesome classroom. And here I thought I was good because I always asked extra credit Disney Trivia Questions in my classroom. Kids would watch movies all weekend before the test so they could get the question. But turing your entire classroom into WDW?! I LOVE IT. Boy talk about feeling great walking into your classroom each day. I believe the tax deduction is $500.00. Another thought for Animal Kingdom; take newspaper and twist pieces together to form a long "rope". Wrap it in brown or green crape paper you'll get an instant vine. You can attach paper leaves to it too. You can drap it from your ceiling.

Y'all are great:earsgirl:

I wasn't going to ask for suggestions until I knew for sure which grade level I will have but on second thought, keep the ideas coming!

Love the "Fastpass" idea!! Could be for bathroom pass, homework pass, etc.

Colleagues did trees similar to your thoughts - used carpet rolls (think paper towel rolls but for carpet - huge!) for the trunks - it's awesome! Could use to make my "Tree of Life"!

I've also given thought to writing the powers that be at Disney and telling them of my plans to see about any freebies but a friend reminded me of Disney's ultra-tight copyright laws and said they might take issue with my classroom theme. I would hope they'd be flattered...isn't copying the biggest form of flattery?!?!
