Make a Wish trip planned for May ... What are your must do's!?

Not posted for awhile, its no fun when you dont have a trip booked and now we have two!
My Son has a life limiting form of epilepsy and Make a Wish are sending us to Florida in May ... We have never been in May and its been so long, so much has changed!! We are only going for a week but we have another trip booked in October. We plan to fit in as much as possible in that one week but will play it by ear depends on how my little one manages the heat.

What are your must do's!? We can get complimentary tickets for almost every attraction in Disney so what are your must do's bearing in mind the boys are 4 and 8? He loves animals so sea world is a must but what about Gatorland, any good? Legoland, aquatica? These are all new, are they worth a visit?

Possibly look into Busch Gardens Tampa.they do a safari trip that includes feeding some of the animals.

if the boys have a love of animals then I would say an obvious choice apart from Seaworld is Animal Kingdom. Personally I didn't like Gatorland at all, didn't like they way they kept the large gators in such small pens, thought it was all a bit sad. But there are some fun things to do there and the highlight of our day was actually going into the Budgy enclosure and feeding them, all the kids in there were having a great time. The budgies are on the floor, on your head, well everywhere really and they sit on your feet trying to undo your trainer laces..maybe your boys would really enjoy that. Seaworld is also an obvious choice as they will be able to touch the stingwrays and the dolphins and feed the sealions and the Clyde and Seymour show is not to be missed.
Not been to Legoland yet but reckon it's going to be like the Windsor one but bigger and somewhat warmer

We travelled in May last year and loved it (going in May again this year) its hot but not quite as humid as the height of the summer so as long as you take regular breaks in air-con attractions or back at your hotel you will be fine
We love Animal Kingdom even though people often complain about the lack of attractions it's a wonderful place to just walk around and enjoy the animals and I am sure your boys would love it
Make sure to go on Kilamanjaro Safaris
Busch Gardens is another great choice if your have a car
It's pricey but have you looked at Discovery Cove? I've never heard anything but positive comments and we had an amazing day there
The dolphin swim is truly wonderful

I second Lindas comments. We have done Discovery Cove twice now and its been amazing both times. Yes it is expensive, but once you are in there all meals/snacks and drinks (alcoholic ones too) are free. Also you don't have to do the dolphin swim which makes it a lot cheaper
For a water Park day Aquatica is great fun but so is Blizzard Beach.

Thank you for all your comments! We have never thought about Bush Gardens, i have not been there for around 10 years and i just remember the roller coasters, lol.

We have just had confirmation that we are flying from gatwick on 3rd May. I have just booked Chef Mickeys for breakfast the next day! I had to ring up though as the on-line booking wouldn't accept any postcode!?

Wednesday 2nd May – Travel up to Gatwick
Thursday 3rd May – wake up at 8.30, have breakfast and make our way to the airport. Once we arrive at GKTW stock up at Walmart down the road.
Friday 4th May – Magic Kingdom, chef mickeys breakfast at 11am.
Saturday 5th May – Animal Kingdom and Epcot
Sunday 6th May – Universal Studios and Islands of adventure
Monday 7th May – Sea World
Tuesday 8th May – Hollywood Studios and shopping
Wednesday 9th May – Gatorland
Thursday 10th May – Legoland, leave for the airport around 3pm for 7.30pm flight

Legoland is around an hours drive from WDW so doing it on the last day might not give you much time there - swap with Gatorland maybe?

I agree with Elisa, I'd definitely swap Gatorland for Legoland.

We did Gatorland in around 4 hours but intend on needing a full day at Legoland this coming August.

Gatorland is also on the way to the Airport which worked well for us when we visited on our last day.

IMHO Animal Kingdom and Epcot on your second full day sounds like a lot to fit in. I personally would choose between one or the other, and if you do find that you have time for the other then great, but bare in mind that you will probably still be waking up very early due to the time difference , its a lot. I would think about doing the same for the next day, choose Universal or IOA then if you can manage both, its a bonus
If you do AK make time for the Lion King show, not only is a good rest from the weather its a stunning show:good vibes.

I agree - My thought was that you seem to be trying to fit an awful lot in to a short time especially when you said you werent sure how your DS would cope with the heat.

Does he know he is going? Has he been before?

Im wondering that as this trip is for him really (through Make a wish) whether you should ask him what he really wants to do - main 2 things - and make sure they are towards the beginning of the holiday incase he does start to flag with the heat etc

Id also be tempted to forget Universal and Legoland and just concentrate on the others
