My son was recentlygranted a trip to WDW thru the Make A Wish Foundation.
We have no idea how it works, other then the dates of our trip(mid nov.)
Does anyone know how this works? Have you ever been the recipient of a grant from MAW? What limitations or perks are connected with this grant?
Any and all information would be helpful and appreciated. Thank you

I have some friends at church who were granted a wish for their DD 2 years ago. I am not positive, but I think I remember her mom saying that they were at a special hotel just for MAW kids, and they were given spending money and gifts for their kids. I would have to talk to her to get more definite info. I will see her at church tomorrow and will try and remember to ask her more details and post. I think it is wonderful that these "wishes" are able to be granted. God bless your family. :flower:

Follow the link in my signature to the disABILITIES Board. Once you are there, you will find quite a few threads about Wish trips.
Look for Make a Wish, MAW, Give Kids the World, and GKTW.

Give Kids the World Village is the name of the special resort set up for children on Wish trips. Not all MAW families stay there, but many do.

Note: their website seems to be out of commission right now when I posted, but the link is correct. If it doesn't work, try again later.

Our DD was granted a MAW trip in Nov '92 when she was 14. Staying at Children's Village was absolutely magical. The Village has grown so much since we've been there; it's awesome! They usually pick mid-November as it is a down time at WDW and the weather is cooler, so that the kids don't have to contend with the heat too. Have fun and take alot of photos! Make sure that everyone wears their buttons (if they still do that for the family) as the CM's look to give you extra attention and make it special!

I am not 100% sure how the whole thing works, but I do know that your child will be treated like royalty. You will probably stay at the Give Kids the World Village in Kissimmee. I think they will fly you down, give you a rental car, spending money, park tickets, etc.. It is up to you about what you want to do and when you do it. You can get a pass from your childs doctor and it could allow you to bypass lines, etc. The MAW people could give you more info on this. The cast at WDW will go out of their way to meet your needs and make your child's trip magical. Have a blast!
