Hi, my name is Loriann. My son Benji just got a wish from Make A Wish. He wants to go to Walt Disney World. We'll be going after my husband comes from deployment this summer.
Make A Wish has been awesome. On the day of the formal interview, they gave Benji a wish kit, with a make a wish tee shirt, a badge, a birmbaums guide to Disney and a special make a wish ball cap. They told him he NEEDS to wear the shirt and the badge as much as possible while at the parks. They told us we'll be staying at Give Kids the world Village in Kissimmee. Benji is so hyped, and frankly, so are we! This is going to be the vacation of a lifetime. My question is, has anyone on here done a Disney vacation as a wish? If so, would you mind sharing your experiences? Thank you,
I'm looking forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome to the DIS!

I'm sure your family will have a super time! I've heard nothing but good things about the Wish trips.

You may want to post this to the disAbilities board--I've read several posts about Wish trips there.

Have fun planning!

We did this last fall through another wish organization but stayed at Give Kids the World village. It was wonderful. The village is so nice that you wouldn't even have to go to the parks. Wear the button in the parks at all times. It will get you special attention in the parks and other places by having it. It also will get you free parking at the parks when they see it. you can even image now how wonderful it will be. You may pm me if you would like more information or if you have questions.

Friends of ours took a Make a Wish trip two years ago...the pin got them to the front of the line on every ride(made them sort of uncomfortable because their son was out of the woods at that point but had been through enough to still qualify for a wish trip, but they pulled him ahead no matter how much they protested.) My friend said everything was provided to them at Give the Kids the world...snacks,meals, park tickets, spending money, there was not one thing that they had to stress over money wise. All in all a great experience at Give the Kids the World to the point where she was very disappointed with the service at All-Star Movies for the extra nights that she booked for after the Wish portion of the trip....

I had a "wish" trip when I was 13 and it was the best! Give Kids the World is absolutely fantastic. They provided myself and my family with anything and everything, we felt guilty because we got to do and see so much. It definately was a wish come true!!!

(this reminded me to add that trip to my list of visits!!:) )

We have friends who took their son (and 2 daughters) on a Wish Trip. They had a wonderful time! Their son thought the Give the Kids the World Village was Disney World. Sounds like a great place! If you would like to see pictures from their trip, they have a family website: www.steventrapp.com
Just go to the picture album and click on previous albums and then on the Disney trip. Somewhere on the website is also the postings from the trip. I am sure they would be nice for you to read, just to give you a first hand view of what it is like. I hope you have a magical time!!!!

Here's a link to the Give Kids the World Village website. We have never been there, but everything I have ever read about WISH trips and GKTW is awesome.
People have written that not only was everything provided that they could think of, but also things they would not have thought of that made their trip extra special.
Have fun.

Friends of ours went this past year after a horrible battle with a rare cancer in thier daughter. They were so amazed with the care and attention they received. We saw several MAW kids at WDW last month. Please don't hesitate to take advantage of front of the line passes. These children so deserve it. They have to wait for Doctor visit, to get to go home from the hospital, to play outside. They deserve NOT to have to wait at WDW. We saw some families go to the front and others wait in line. Just get ready for the the time of your life.

Blessings for you family.

My son Michael received a wish trip to WDW/Give Kids the World in 1991. Michael has spina bifida and had 2 older siblings at the time. We all got to go and it was an experience we will never forget. Michael died on August22,2003. As we were going through Michaels personal "stuff", we came across everything from his wish trip. We had kept everything from ticket stubs to maps and the journal I had kept daily. Of course the pictures are what I treasure the most. You can't take too many!!! I hope you have a great time and make wonderful memories.
