I got a cute idea from a conversation I had with Liam last night. I had kissed him good night and turned out his lights when he asked if we were going to Disney World soon. I told him that I didn't have a date yet but if he wanted to we could make a special calendar that we could mark off everyday until the date we went. It would just have to wait till we found out the days we were going.

So this afternoon I started thinking about this calendar and got another idea. I could personalize the calendar on the computer and put special days on it that will get us more excited (if that is possible) to go to florida. :woohoo:

Some of the ideas I had were:
Weekly Disney Movie days
Princess/Pirate day
Special days to look up things on the computer such as youtube
Days to look at the books and see what rides we want to go on

Ok so the list is small right now so I would love all of your imput. Give me your ideas of how to make this a great calendar. If everyone likes the idea we can maybe put the suggestions together for other people to steal this idea.

Looking foward to your replys

Hi, thank you for all your help. I got your messages. I will send you a reply later tonight when i have more time to really sit down and get everything together. Oh where do i ask for the bunny bucks?

Very cool!! I only have my iPhone tonight... So my answers may be short. U get the bunny bucks, if u need them, at gktw at the front desk. But they will probably let them eat free, honestly.

 I will keep your family in my prayers.

Was/is Emma on chemo for the entire year? If so i'm so sorry. It is really hard when you have a child that's sick. We as moms have to make sure that they are getting all the help they need and then some to get them well again, plus try and give the other children everything you normally did before the illness.

How old is Emma? Elise just turned 4 in Feb. No I have not set up a site for her. I'm so use to calling people to update them on what's happening with Elise. I do have pics of the family on my facebook page. I will try and post a link for it in a min. I will check out Emma's site.

Checked out your facebook page you DD is a cutie....When did you say you were going, or don't you have dates yet....Emma is the blond on mine....

Wow, your very creative! I love the ideas. I just let the kids take turns marking off each day. If you have comcast as your cable company you can go on demand and watch several different clips (about 5-10 mins each) on things to see at WDW. That's the kids fav thing to do now.

We will be there from May 5-May 11, 2009.
She is beautiful. All your children are.

Hi, guys!

It's the "blue fairy" again!

First of all, thank you so much for being so kind and writing to me. There is joy here, and now I feel so joyous! :goodvibes:cloud9:

I have begun my pre-trip report. Here's the link:

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2144951

I put the link in my siggy, too. Some of you have a title and not code for your links (and they're in color-cool). How do you do that? I couldn't figure it out. :confused3

Another pre trip report! :thumbsup2 Going to check it out right now!

ok, onto questions (i shoudl warn you some are SILLY questions!):
1. do we have to bring our own towels?

I think someone else already answered this question. By the way, should you not do laundry one night and completely run out of towels, :rolleyes1, you can get more from the House of Hearts. They are very nice about it.
2. is there a fishing place there at the park for bass fishing??
Yes, and you don't have to bring your own poles. You can borrow from GKTW.

3. on the PLANE, can we take shampoo and such in our luggage? i heard we could not??? haven't been on one in FOREVER!

You can on most airlines, assuming you mean checked bags. For carry-on, you are limited to 3 ounces or less of each. (Check the website of who you are flying with. Regulations will be there. Most ask that they be put in a clear, zip-loc type bag. Aerosols are a no-go for most carriers though. (hairspray or deodorant type things).
4. what do we need to take FOR the GKTW? is there something we should take for our rooms??

There will be drinks in the fridge of the soda variety. I stopped at Walmart and bought bottled water to take to the parks. I froze them so they were nice and cold in the heat of the day. Really, you could get by without taking any shampoo or soap. They have the little hotel type stuff. I took baby wipes, but my child is incontinent. We ended up using them for other things though.
5. can we take a PULSE OXIMETER MONITOR on the plane??

Again, check with your carrier's website, but most are fine with this type of thing.

6. is there swimming at GKTW? is it still to cold for that?

There is and it is heated. The pool was hopping every night when we were there in March and the weather was mild.

Hope this helps,

Tammy B

I agree with Maroo, they will most likely be able to eat for free their. Our MAW chapter told us that we my sister and son would have to purchase meals, even though they were staying with us at the village, but when I called GKTW a week before we left, they told me that my sister and son could eat for free, or with us. When my cousin came our last night their, he got a voucher to eat dinner with us, and he had to pay nothing as well. Once MAW gives you the ok for your father and nephew to stay with you on the property, just call GKTW and double check about the food.

I was wondering if anyone has a tip on how to wear the GKTW button without making big holes in their kids' shirts. We have several holiday buttons/pins that Sam usually wears to school on the holiday. It never fails, he pulls on the pin and ends up with huge holes in his shirts. If he buys some cute t-shirts at Disney, I don't want him to come back with shirts that look like swiss cheese!
Can you pin it to a lanyard or something? Will it still be visible enough? Am I the only person who has ever had this issue??
Mary Anne

It works best to hang the pins on a lanyard. The GKTW lanyards we received were too thin so we bought some Disney ones at Wal-Mart by Give Kids the World Village.

ok, onto questions (i shoudl warn you some are SILLY questions!):
1. do we have to bring our own towels? Nope, but you are in charge of washing the towels during the week in your washer in your villa, meaning they do not bring new ones every day.
2. is there a fishing place there at the park for bass fishing?? Not that I saw...but you can always call and ask...wait...now after thinking about it, I did see kids bringing back fishing poles to Amberville...so maybe.

There is fishing at the dock in GKTW at scheduled times.

3. on the PLANE, can we take shampoo and such in our luggage? i heard we could not??? haven't been on one in FOREVER! We did not, we went to the walmart when we got their and picked that stuff up. However, on the way home, my husband packed what we did not use, such as soaps and shampoos, but make sure they are in plastic bags, so nothing explodes on your clothes, and do not take them as a carry on. Less hassel.

4. what do we need to take FOR the GKTW? is there something we should take for our rooms?? Nope...they have everything you need...:thumbsup2

5. can we take a PULSE OXIMETER MONITOR on the plane?? I do not see why not. Jake had his TPN pump going and I also had a carry on of medical supplies and other pumps, needles and meds...no one every asked for the Drs notes that I had. I think when you need to take an oxygen tank with you, that is when you need certain clearance.
6. is there swimming at GKTW? is it still to cold for that? Their is a ONE swimming pool their and it is heated. Of course the week we were their it was 90 all week, but we never got a chance to make it back for a swim. If your not going to be late at the parks, than you can swim until 9pm.

You are going to have such worry free time at GKTW...really...:cloud9:

There is fishing at the dock in GKTW at scheduled times.

Great ideas!! There is a thread...somewhere...that has movie night ideas. Let me try to find it. :)

Hi, guys!

It's the "blue fairy" again!

First of all, thank you so much for being so kind and writing to me. There is joy here, and now I feel so joyous! :goodvibes:cloud9:

Woo Hoo!!

I have been super busy for the last day and a half! But I can't wait to go see it!!! :)

Here is the thread link I promised that has to do with DISNEY NIGHTS!

It is actually a pre-trip report...from a "regular" family...(Do we still have those in America? If so, what do they look like? :confused3) Anyway...they are not a wish trip family, is what I am trying to say... But they do have an entertaining pre-trippie and it includes some Disney Nights that are planned. In fact, they just had a fun "Cars" themed night, complete with stop light cookies! :thumbsup2

A Pre-Trip Report that has some DISNEY NIGHTS planned! (With some pictures! :))

And I have asked her for her "source" of all of these ideas...and if I get that, I will post it here, too! :)

First...Your pre-trippie is WONDERFUL! Great job! :)

I am not sure if you even want to...or if your mom will let you...but we love pictures with the pre-trippies, too...but I understand if your Mom doesn't want you posting stuff like that OR if you don't want your picture all over the internet! And if you need help posting them, feel free to ask us! :)

I have learned this week that your report CAN be indexed on Google and be something that people...even non-DISboards people...end up checking out. That is all I am saying! :faint:

Did you figure out the signature thing? I honestly just had to play with it and keep "previewing" it over and over to see what it looked like. I am not even sure how I did it...but I can copy the "code" and send it to you if you want an example of a siggie that has colored stuff in it?

Hello again!
I posted a couple of nights ago, about my family, our wish trip child is my daughter Azaria, and there is my son Aidan (4) who has a severe peanut allergy, and our oldest son Christopher who is 21 and will be joining us. (In one of the replies, someone mentioned my father, he is not going with us. I think that was a mix up with someone else.) Anyhow, I just wanted to thank everyone for welcoming us.

I guess the first thing I need to do is get 10 posts, right? I really want to see maroo's planner, so can someone advice me on where to post 10 replies. I don't want to flood this area with posts unless that is how you do it.

So my next step is to start a list of things that we will want to do at Disneyworld. My biggest fear is that we will be wandering around aimlessly wasting time because of poor planning. My time, especially computer time, is so limited, so I'm probably going to rely on you all for lots of ideas. I have been trying to read a lot of the trip reports, they've been helpful. It's really kind of hard since I don't know what to expect or what Disneyworld has to offer.

I would like to create a pre-trip report but I am not sure how. I'd like to post a couple of pictures of my family so you can start putting faces with names too.

Thanks for your help,
Debi
